Krieghoff Chokes -- Isn't This Kind of Odd?

I'm basically a FULL choke guy. 98% of all the targets I've broken in my life were shot with a FULL or EXTRA FULL choke. But as my eyes get older I occasionally consider flirting with the sin of infidelity. Imagine my surprise while surfing gunporn on the Krieghoff website and discovering that they offer a LIGHT IMPROVED MODIFIED choke tube ...but no LIGHT FULL! Now I am forced to defile my saintly K-Gun with an unholy Briley tube!

NINE choke tube options and no LF? What the heck are those crazy Germans thinking?

A wise man once said that when trapshooting use any choke you want as long as it's full.
    Need I say more?

I've been using a Light I/M for the 2nd shot of Doubles. Seems to work well........

Krieghoff Imp/mod works great for me -- patterns tighter than my C.G light full

Terry, that's a GREAT point. Plus I already have one of those gathering dust. I shall give it a try. Thanks!

Choke tubes are the work of the devil.
They spread false hope and create doubt.

Roy, What averages did you hold with your choice of chokes? Roger C.

96+, but at least I knew I never missed a target that wasn't my fault. Perhaps not my wisest decision, but I took Big Leo's advice to heart. After all, how could anyone not respect what that legend had to say?

OP: Surely you have better things to do than develop angst over the difference between Improved Modified and Light Full constriction? LOL If you need things to occupy your time; when you get the Briley Light full tube, do some extensive pattern testing comparing it to the Krieghoff IM and F tubes. Please share the results here so we won't spend sleepless nights contemplating the results!

I won’t lose any sleep thinking about why you felt you had to take a swipe at the guy with the sarcasm but I don’t like it.

I don't understand either why he had to throw shade at Roy D.

I think Roy was legitimately seeking some input and it didn't warrant a response like that.

A bit of light comedy was apparently mistaken to be mean spirited; far from it. Free drinks for all.

The 27 yd. line and more open chokes may work at places where target visibility is better than others. Adding a few more yards needed to see targets might require a tighter choke.

I am only 23 yard cap but in my KX6 special I use the 2+ or LIM .025 choke for everything, it crushes them I have a 3 and a 4 but they have never been in the gun except one night at practice, went back to the 2+

Wouldn't a Light Improved Modified actually be...for all intents and purposes... a Modified?
    I mean, 5 (mod) + 2 (IM) - 2(LM) still = 5 (mod)??

If Kreighoff offers an IMod wouldn't that be close enough to Light Full to do the job quite nicely? If you're afraid it isn't, just pull the trigger two-tenths of a second quicker.

I wonder if Kolar owners face this same dilemma?

As Terry Jordan astutely pointed out,
    Problem solved.

  23. Krieghoff chokes are in the increment of 5 thousandths. I would suspect that Briley's are the same. The Kreighoff IM is 30 thhousandths which is light full by most manufacturers standards.

When I shot Kreighoff I used the IM choke all the time. With STS light Handicap and #8 shot I rolled 25 up in a ball.
PS I was a lot younger then. LOL. That was from the 30 yrd. line. Roger C.
