Old farts can remember the days everyone got their ammo at the shell house. They were stamped and official.

That was in the days many so called All Americans were given illegal shells by the factories. Strange how their scores came down for the Grand.

One shell house gives someone a lot of buying power and a price break. One delivery address. One truck. It was an efficient economy of scale.

Great idea, I don’t know how well the sponsored shooters would like that. I usually get my years worth of ammo at the Grand anyway. There’s always good deals and Geoff is shooter, sponsor and all around good guy to work with.

I remember the reason the shell house went away in the beginning at Sparta was because of the Illinois gun card law. You couldn't purchase ammo unless you were from a contiguous state of Illinois or without a hunting license. To many regs so they dropped the shell house. Look it up Brad M, if you are an actual person and not an ATA or Illinois state plant.

I'm still waiting on what you think the mission of the ATA needs to be. Promote Trap Shooting or Just The grand in Sparta? Let me know if you every come up with an answer. Ask Gibson the next time you see him what he thinks?

I can tell you haven’t been to a grand in a while. There is a shell house at the grand. Any shooter can buy ammo at the grand. Are you really that clueless on the Grand in Sparta? How can you not know there is a shell house? And you want to dictate policy. When was your last registered target? The mission is promote trapshooting which they do in my opinion. By the way, I don’t know a Gibson.

Lynn ( the Talking Head ) Gipson is the executive director of the ATA, has a gun business at the WSRC and does shot reclamation ... If you don't know him you are a ROBOT ... The ATA has not promoted trapshooting in so long that should be taken out of the program and eliminated all together ... The Members are actually the ones who promote trapshooting at all of the little clubs across the country ... The ATA eliminated the "All New" shells rules to try and boost attendance and supposedly save the members some money, we all see how that worked ... If they ever try to go back to all new shells they would be able to hold the grand on 10 traps or less unless it was relocated to another location, even then there will be a chit load of resistance ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Wpt I think Brad M is making fun of my spelling of Lynn's last name. My macular degeneration ,makes it hard for me to see the key board and the screen so unless a red line appears under a word I can't tell if it is misspelled or not. He obviously doesn't know what the grand shell house was, he is confusing a vendor with the ATA Run Shell House.

I like your quote to BRAD DYSINGER.

I can tell you haven’t been to a grand in a while.

Neither have you. Yes I know your position at the WSRC. The Grand that Dysinger was collecting trophies at had capital “G”. The shoot you act as as operations mgr or whatever, has had fewer shooters in the GAH than before the Korean War. Thanks for all your work.

Can we say you helped make the GAH what is isn’t today? A grand without a “G”?

You have never been to a “G”rand. If I had your present 48 doubles average I might not be so inclined as to point out to someone with macular degeneration that he misspelled Gipson. And your best doubles 69, being makes me wonder how you can type.

I am not sure how many times you have been a tournament director. Dysinger has been a tournament director more times than you have shot outside of the state.

Brad M, I hope you get to go to a “”G”rand. I suspect the statistical trend your team is setting will prevent that.

Stat wise your might even be in the HOF. Your scores should be documented forever. Just the facts.

I’m not that good of a doubles shooter you got that right. I’ll never be the caliber of most shooters but I have fun and that’s what it’s about to me. I’d love to win a trophy, I try hard but it’s just not been meant to be. Thanks for reminding me I need to shoot some more doubles. When your constantly busy like myself it’s hard to make time for shooting.

so Dysinger not having shot a target for a while means he knows nothing about the sport? No correlation? And Brad M record for hosting a grand with the worst statistics since the Korean War has no correlation to the number of targets shot.

Then can we agree Dysinger needs spellcheck, Brad M needs work on any form of shooting and doesnt appear to have a great performance record stats wise on the grand.

Or does being the worst venue since the Korean War get you a trophy?

I think we need a grudge match between Dysinger and Brad M in doubles with profits going to SAVE THE EYE SIGHT. If i was a gambler i would bet DYSINGER could break at least 50 with his eyes closed

The Grand (state of Illinois) did not initially have the rule about ammo sales to residents and contiguous states. For the first several years anyone could buy at the Walmart or anywhere they chose. Then along came a new head of the Illinois State Police and his interpretation of the law. That guy is now gone and a new head of ISP, Brendan Kelly, has not changed that stance and I doubt he will. No new law has been made just the interpretation of it. Prior to Pritzker becoming Gov, Kelly was the States Attorney of St. Clair County which is where I live. My daughter was an Asst. States Attorney at that time also. I happen to know a bit about Illinois laws as I was a LEO for 32 years also.
There is still and always was a shell house at the Grand in Sparta. I believe it is ran by Gamaliel's.

The problem with Illinois is everything (law) is open to some politicians opinion and the Illinois government is anti gun. You state the law didn't change just how it was interpreted. You can not say for a fact that there will even be a shoot this year let alone always a shell house. It is only is your opinion (hope) but counting on the good will of some lawyer in Illinois government isn't much comfort. It's also a hell of a way to run a business.

Brad M how much do you want to Bet?

I never said there would or would not be a Grand in Illinois, this year or any other year. I have no say or control in that. All I was commenting on was the shell house comments and the question of shell sales to out of state residents. Politicians write these laws to address what they perceive to be a problem then later argue about what it means. They can't even agree on the U.S. Constitution.

I work for one of the largest wholesale distributors and curious how the ATA or any State Assc would be able to compete with Big Box Stores or Large Distributors to get ammo. In PA we have 3 main ammo suppliers (CAC, Shyda's, Geiser) to the retail consumer and all are sold out currently. So please explain logistically how a "new" group is going to fit into this when every round being produced for the next 18 months is already committed to PO's?

Brad M, just for your information, the fact they had a "shell" house in Vandalia and everyone paid for shells at the time of your entry does not mean that those were the shells folks were shooting. I know as a fact there were reloads etc getting shot. Had a guy in one of my squads many years ago who got caught shooting 1.25 oz reloads in a handicap event. That was just a one in a million lucky snag that day. Line referee just happen to find out and escorted to person to the powers to be. If there is major money evolved, someone will find a way to cheat!! Just my opinion.

You are correct the trouble all started when ILL. got a new Gun Nazi ! He was a lib tard commie and did not change anything except the rules INTERPRETATION ! My great uncle was a sheriff in southern ILL. ( Hardin CO.) for much of his life . He always said the only thing crazier than ILL. politics was ILL. Politicians !

Brad m with your seemingly unlimited knowledge of the why's and the whatevers of (sparta) trapshooting possibly you could could tell us who was the MEGA ATA target club for 2020??? or is this above your pay grade. It could be that you are only wispered talking points on a need to know basis. It always amaze me that the poorest shooter is the loudest mouth on how it should be done.

Hammering Mr. Dysinger was quite disrespectable as he as they say has walked the walk and when he was shooting he may very well have been the best bad weather 27yd shooter to shoot the sport. Even with his failing eyesight I don't doubt that he could still break a few targets.

If the ATA would go back to the way it was ( all new shells/ shell house ) they could host the grand on a dozen traps because the majority of shooters enjoy shooting re loads and not having to get new shells even if the price is considered reasonable ... I have always felt if there was an advantage to re loads all of the Big Dogs would be shooting them instead of new ammunition ... Like Big Papa said there were a lot of shooters shooting reloads even when they bought new shells to try and get any advantage they possibly could ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
