Grants to start new range?

Hi there everyone. I am looking at trying to start a club in my small town but I don’t know where to start. Is there NRA or ATA or.. grants available? It’s quite a drive to a field for us in our town. Small town Idaho.

 

If you get the youth involved it’s much easier to get grants. Midway has grants for improvements so I assume they have grants to start a new gun club. State fish and game should be able to help you also.

 

Small town Idaho trap clubs are tricky the drive to the field thing is real and a killer for turnout. No big NRA or ATA club startup grants for this. IDFG has Public Shooting Range Grants every year deadline Nov 3 for 2026 funding, but it’s for existing public ranges clubs, not brand new ones.

Start simple talk to your local gun shop, Idaho State Police, or existing clubs in the area Boise Gun Club, Pocatello Trap Club, etc.. File an LLC, build a basic safety plan, and pitch it as a community youth program to the town for possible land or small grants. Drop me your county and I’ll point you to exact contacts. Otherwise it’s all sweat equity and “we’ll see what happens.
