I am relatively new to trap shooting and looking to join and participate in some competitive events (ATA) this year. My question is how are new shooters placed in regards to classification. I've read through the rule book, however the section about classification is confusing to me. (Section C.5. a-b) Also, how many registered targets does one have to shoot until they have acquired an average to be placed in a class in an event. Hope this all makes sense.

Don't concern yourself with the small stuff, just go, shoot, enjoy ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

500 in the current year to be classified. You can shoot targets only till you get there and avoid shooting penalty class.

Don't be afraid of seeking out the local meat shoots, if the have them in your area.
