Remember when traveling in Florida that Publix has decided they don't want you nasty open gun carriers.

Don't leave the gun in the car. Go to another company. Jmho

Publix isn’t wrong for their policy, and they’re not even really targeting responsible carriers. But their execution is clumsy, and yeah, I’ve started taking my business elsewhere when it’s practical.

From an article in the Tampa Bay Times...

This week, company spokesperson Lindsey Willis responded in an email to the Miami Herald: “Our policy has not changed. We kindly ask that only law enforcement officials openly carry in our stores.”

...so, there isn't a ban on open carry...or concealed carry.

FYI, in April a customer at a Miramar Publix accidentally discharged a firearm. This "ask" is probably a reaction to that incident and complaints from other customers. As happens so often...the rest of us have to pay for the indescretions and stupidity of a few.
