Does anyone honestly know what happened that there are no more NY Athletic Club shoots held at the Home Grounds in Cicero.

When I first got into the ATA shooting in NY, these were shoots that we looked forward to.

I had been told there was a decline in participation over the years, but I also heard there were other factors.

Does anyone know for sure ?

When I shot The NY AC shoots ,in the early 70's , they were held in Pelham NY ,right at the New York Athletic club . They were great shoots , people from all over the country attended . If I'm not mistaken , they also held a few at the old Parker club in NY. I think they moved out of the athletic club because the shoot got too big .

If I recall correctly the last time it was held at NYS ATA grounds was around 2003.
I do not remember why it ended.

    Tom,

I won a buckle at that shoot in 2003.

You wouldn't by chance be a past GAH champ would you ?

I still have a shellbag from when the shoot was held at Pine Belt many moons ago. Mickey Mantle was there for autographs I think at that shoot. Anyway, I broke a 199 in the Singles and tied Kay Ohye for high. Fortunately he chickened out of a shootoff with me-ha, ha-but they flipped a coin and I lost anyway. Those were the days!

    I’m the wrong Tom L.
My son Karl won a Jr or sub Jr buckle at the Athletic Shoot around that time frame.

    Thanks Tom !!!

Your son Karl, along with Carl Wagner, Dave Cichelli, and Mike Costa was on one of the squads at Mt. Morris with my wife many years back when they had a 125 / 125 round.

Boy, you bring back many memories of the Good Old Days.

    You may remember her.

    Dave,
I do remember you and your wife. Both of you are missed in our local shooting community.
Hope you are still banging away!

    Tom,

One thing for sure is we miss those fantastic shoots at Mt. Morris and Conesus.

Judy had to give up Shotgun Shooting due to health reasons, and I am just a casual shooter with the locals here in Florida any more.

I Still enjoy hearing the gun go bang even if just for fun.

HI to all up in NY !
