What is a "New Profile Post"?

I just noticed a tab that is on the screen when I select the NEW POSTS option - "New Profile Post". I am curious as to what the purpose of this is and what benefit it provides to ATC members. I'm not judging it; I just don't have a clue as that what it supposed to provide. Sometimes the obvious is simply hidden from a person’s view.

 

With 307 views in less than 24 hours and zero comments, I would guess I'm not the only one that doesn't have a clue about the "New Profile Post" tab. I also noticed that I can't edit my original post (Post #1). I noticed a grammer error in it, but there isn't an "EDIT" button on that post. I assume that is by design?
