Exceptionally rare Carl Smith trap trigger for Remington 1100/1187 shotguns. These were handmade from solid steel by Carl Smith in the 70s, who was a gunsmith from California who did other trigger gunsmithing work including BT99 and Model 12. Incredibly simple design, and from what I've read in the past, the fastest lock time 1100 trigger made. This is as close as you'll get to a break action trigger in an automatic. It's about an ounce heavier than my all-steel Timney, so it also gets the award for heaviest 1100 trigger ever made as well.

This is a SINGLE SHOT ONLY trigger, it cannot be used for multi-shot games as the carrier is replaced by a platform and it has no provision or ability to load a shell from the magazine. This is a PULL trigger, NOT a release!

The second "trigger" you see on the side is the bolt release. Instead of the silver button on the bottom, you simply pull the bolt release back like a trigger, and the bolt goes home. Sounds weird but it becomes pretty intuitive after you do it a few times.

I've seen less than a handful of these floating around on the internet over the past couple decades.

The one caveat is that due to the custom nature, and variety of generations and manufacturing tolerances on 1100s, minor gunsmith fitting/adjustment may be required. For example, I put into two 1100s, one went in fine, the other would have required a slight bit of material removal from the bottom of the trigger guard cutout in the stock or from the back of the trigger housing.

    $525 shipped.

Had one of these years ago. Incredibly fast hammer fall, especially for an 1100.
