I recently received a few Ponsness-Warren reloaders for repairs and as we can see the users of re-claimed shot are doing some real damage to their machines. Cast iron is a relatively hard substance and re-claimed shot scores the top plate and plastic gears. What that tells me is it also is hard on barrels.

One of the machines in for repairs came from a noted re-claimer who really tries to provide a good product. Doesn't matter-does it?

    Cast iron?
My Ponsness looked worse than that and I only used new shot. Probably loaded 150,000 rounds thru it. I put in a new plastic gear on the shot side at I'm guessing 100,000.

Wow. My 800B is almost 40 yrs. old and looks nothing like that.
Looks like a case of abrasive dirt.
Wonder if hitting the target imbeds abrasive dust that won't wash out?

I haven't taken my 800+ apart yet but I have been using Terry's reclaimed shot. His shot doesn't look much different than the virgin shot I have used. Machine works flawless. Steve

Remove the top plate and check the underside. You might be unpleasantly surprised!

I never thought it that way. The turntable is certainly aluminum. Are you correct? Whatever re-claimed shot does to a PW also is visible in barrels. I've got several as proof!

I had a 5 gallon bucket of reclaimed shot given to me, I used a powerful magnent to remove the steel shot and dust, I finally gave that bucket of reclaimed shot away, I have used freshly poured shot from a shotmaker. I gave the guy a ton of lead, from various sources, including wheel weights, and he gave me back 50% in shot, which I was happy with. he graphite it in a large tumbler he made.

Have any of you ever tried the Black Diamond Shot, it is really shiny, have not seen any since the Grand was at Vandalia.

I got it from a vendor from Indiana whom passed away at the Missouri Shoot.

Reclaimed shot is only good to melt.

My bullet maker refuses to use reclaimed shot. He claims too much junk!

You have to re melt and remove the crap out of it. Anything else is like shooting sandpaper thru your gun.
