I know many are not excited about the HOF. But if you did donate what would you give or suggest they have to improve it.

I was thinking Longshot's prosthetic leg. Any other ideas?

You might want to ask Longshot first. I think the Doc is attached to it.

Under the current circumstances I probably would not donate, loan the Hall of Fame anything ... There appears to be way to much uncertainty so far as future existence in reality and those who should know are not saying anything or giving any one any real information ... There was a posting saying they wanted or needed an additional (approx) $300,000 to pay off the portion they were responsible for , never heard any more about that, so it would be any body's guess where they are on that one ... Communication is not one of the HOF and or ATA's strong points, that's for sure ... If you have nothing to hide, hide nothing ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I had some extra clay targets beginning from the Legowky all the way through to present.

I donated them to the OHIO THOF where I know they can be seen on a regular basis.

Also, I have put a request into my will that the OHIO THOF have first refusal (free of charge) on my collection of clay pigeons, balls, and other targets. MINI-MU.jpg

Harrisonjh. I donated (in my father and uncles name) to tha HOF when it was in Ohio. Thinking I could take my friends and grandsons there some day. When they moved everything into storage I ask if I could get my stuff back and donate it to the Ohio State HOF. That is when I learned if I had loaned it I could have however I donated it so it is gone forever. No one knows the ATA's next move, that is why I say loan not donate.

Like other organizations (ie: museums, historical societies, etc.) the Trapshooting Hall of Fame permits both Donations and Loans.

All organizations hope to receive "Unconditional" donations. Meaning, items donated belong to them and therefore they have the exclusive right to keep, lend or otherwise dispose of as they wish. Organizations holding 501 (c)(3) not for profit status can offer tax exemptions at the item's estimated value to donors. Note: Unconditional Donation only

Another method is the "Conditional" donation. Museums accepting items donated in this manner must make every attempt to return to the owner upon their decision to deaccession the item(s). However as long as the item is in their possession, it is their property.
So, there are two (2) methods of making donations: "Conditional" and "Unconditional" donations.

In addition to the above "Donations" the Trapshooting Hall of Fame also permitted four (4) ways to loan items to them.

    Loan 1 - For a specified period
Loan 2 - For an unspecified period (long-term)
Loan 3 - Under consideration for acquisition by the Museum
Loan 4 - For identification. In this case the museum attempts to provide information (not-authentication or valuation) and for their efforts they reserve the right to photograph the item.

Remember, you are the rightful owner of the item and it is you who reserves the right to decide the fate of your artifact. If you are unable to strike the right deal, you are under no obligation to transfer it to any organization.

You should also know that museums do not have any obligation to display donated or loaned artifacts.

If any organization fails to inform you up-front of their policy, listing all the methods of Loans and Donations, they are not being honest with you and you should consider a better place for you item.

    Hope this helps.
