How many SCTP and AIM shooters shot the Nationals at Cardinal Center. Total event shooters

Not official, I heard around 2,400.

 

I think there was more attendance at the SCTP and AIM Championship than the Grand American.

Which says a lot about our Kids and trapshooting, the old dogs are pissed because the younger generation is beating them,

The SCTP reported that between the SCTP (clay targets) and SAS (rifle/pistol) there were 2,369 participants from 34 states. This is about 400 fewer than the 2015 totals.

The number of events participated in were up in both SCTP and SAS.

There may have been some AIM shooters there, but since this was a SCTP event nobody cared or counted them.

As far as comparing the total number of participants between the SCTP and the Grand, I would be that you are wrong. Keep in mind the 2,369 number is inclusive of all the events, Trap, Skeet, Sporting, Rifle/pistol. However, I would bet that even that combined total is less than the total number of participants in the Grand events.

 

The grand had 1937 entries in event #21, that was the most of all events, even though there were claims of 15,000 to 30,000 shooters in the area ... It was also said that 15,000 of them were staying on site which means 15 people per camping spot if all 1,000 were occupied ... Surely I am not the only person who would think that with that many shooters in and around the area one, if only one event would of had more than 2,000 entry's ..? There is probably something in the water or cannabis was growing wild ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

 

Bill, Try to stay on topic without constantly bringing up the point of how many shooters/people the ATA claimed were going to be there. It doesn't add to the conversation at all.

You've been around the sport long enough to know that just because there were 1,937 shooters in one event that doesn't mean there were only 1,937 shooters that attended the grand. The same concept applies to the SCTP shoot. I have not seen anything formal from the SCTP but if my memory serves me correctly, and I counted correctly, I think there we about 1,900 in the 16yd event at the SCTP Championship.

The fact is the SCTP shoot was smaller this year than last year, by about 13%. Why? Could it be that the SCTP moved their shoot away from their shooter base? The two biggest SCTP states in 2015 were Iowa and WI. Iowa grew by about 10% in 2016. Not sure about WI. Granted the trip to Marengo is about a wash for the SE WI folks.

The bottom line is that the State of Illinois and the WSCR probably stepped on their collective dicks when the SCTP felt their hand was forced to move the shoot to another venue. The Cardinal stepped up and made it happen.

 

The SCTP was kicked to the curb by the IDNR / Illinois. The collegiate nationals had no where to go last year. Fishburn made that happen on almost no notice. A few months later he put more millions in to the place.

You are 100% correct about being around this sport a long time and I also know from past practice and attendance what happened again at Sparta (WSRC) is Pathetic as far as entry's and or amount of people being claimed when a Blind man can see otherwise ... I was always raised to be honest, loyal, have integrity, and honor, I would assume those I deal with are also until they give me reason to not trust them if and when they act with out honor (Integrity)what the ATA EC, ED, CHC , and many of the BOD is and has been doing ... If by chance you find this to be an acceptable practice you are part of the problem ... I would never doubt that all of the people who show up do not shoot every event but surly even if by accident there would of been at least 2,000 shooters in at least one of the events if they had as they say 15,000 shooters in and about the general area ... People have heard claims of 15,000 to 30,000, at what point does a little white lie turn into and gross deception ..?
The SCPT obviously saw it coming and changed gears midstream to make sure it happened with the co operation of Mr Fishburn (Cardinal Center) and it turned out well and got put in the books ... The State of Illinois is in deep trouble financially, someone, any one is going to pay big time to cover this last and any other grands that may be held at the facility ... See the writing on the wall, read it until you understand it them make your moves accordingly ... If you can't fill the parking lot, camp ground, and traps you are on the road to failure ...
