Dropped by the Cardinal Center to see how the scenery is changing at the Cardinal Center for the SCTP Nationals and Collegiate Shooting Tournaments.

    No!

I like the OSTA HOF just fine and you can keep the corruption in Sparta.

What's a muddy pond and a gazebo got to do with trapshooting?

Sure looks like they are spending a lot of money for a possible one time event!

You new to the forum? There are 50 days of competition shooting this year. Kids are at the place all year.

Water is murky. It just rained in OH. Grass still needs planted on the new shoreline. They say 15 foot deep.

Instead of pumpgun bob just maybe his handle should be Pumpkin Bob since it appears he is thinking like a pumpkin?

Bob sounds like a no-frills type of shooter.

He would have loved Crystal Lake Gun Club, Medway Ohio.

Talk about a no- amenities club. The last trap you shot, almost over Hog pens, so there was no hard right.

Also, the Men's urinal was unique. Made from what looked like sheet metal, and mostly rusted out, your discharge travelled a few bends and corners before disappearing.

We've come a long way Baby.

    Regards....Gerald

If (BIG IF)) the ATA was smart they would bend over back words to make a deal on a long term/ short term lease or rental agreement with the folks at Cardinal Center on an annual basis ... They would eliminate having to get the place ready and not have to do anything more than collect a percentage of the money and move on until the following year, thus making the grand "The Grand " again ... (Sparta has proved it is not the answer, they were looking for ) ... The people at the Cardinal Center actually have a much better handle on the way to do things and get them done in a timely fashion ... The ATA would only reap the benefits and not have to make massive payouts like will more than likely be the case on a short term rental agreement at the facility (WSRC) in Sparta, Ill ... Cardinal Center has infrastructure already in place and more places to eat and stay than Sparta will ever have based on the lack of interest that has been shown/ realized over the past 11 years to build up the general area or region in the immediate area in and around Sparta, Ill ... Business 101, common sense, logical thinking, and reasoning would of had the ATA out of the facility in Sparta, Ill after the 4th or 5th year based on the lack of performance and attendance continually dropping off ... The ATA could deplete the amount of people involved on the EC, ED, and depend on the BOD to do their job for a change ... The SCPT might just be the best thing that ever happened to the ATA by them showing the way it should be done when they made the choice to move on and preserve the organization before the walls came tumbling down on them when the State shuttered the facility (WSRC) ... The WSRC is not going to be fully funded anytime in the near future (2017) so that is going to present a continual problem year after year until the eventual closing of the facility, at which time the ATA will have no choice but to move on ... Reality has struck, time to get on with it and move on for the betterment and preservation of the organization ... No More Excuses ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

This was the Chrystal Lake Club, but in probably the late 1980's the club was purchased by Bob Smith and he had the grounds excavated and then he put in 6 new traphouses, installed a new lighting system on several of the traps, and built a new brick clubhouse which was finished inside with beautiful cherry wood. When it reopened it was a beautiful shooting facility, but after a short time it was closed and Ohio lost a very historically significant trapshooting facility. Mentioning the Chrystal Lake club brought back many great memories. This was the club where I won my last punch to get to the 27yd line. Gerald thanks for mentioning this club.

When I was on the OSTA board we used to have a kids fishing derby the week of the Ohio State Shoot. Ann and Don Cogan went around and got prizes donated by vendors for fish that the Ohio Division of Wildlife had tagged before stocking the pond. The fish were pretty big Channel Cats and the kids under 16 fished that pond like it was a job. We had a lot of happy kids, we did it for a couple of three years as I remember with bluegills one year as I remember. Brad

I dream of making it to the Cardinal Center. Everything that I have heard and seen is nothing short of outstanding. Those of you that live in Ohio are blessed. We have nothing even close to a facility like that in the state of Washington. I was hoping to make it thus year. But ordered a new Kolar combo five weeks ago. Next year, I want to attend the Cardinal Classic.

If I had to pay for another gun I would miss a few shoots. Enjoy the Kolar.

Pumpgun: When you rebuild a pond and make it larger It gets muddy when filling in a rainy season, when the Banks get seeded w/grass and the pond greens get growing, the silt will settle and the water will turn Green/Blue, why don't you buy a load of fish from a hatchery and have the pond stocked for the kids, Bass would be a great start, Hybrid Blueguills would be nice too. 6 Catfish I had stocked overtook my pond by eating Baby Bass, finally had to shoot 38 of them and let the coons eat them.

Ok, if not the Grand moved to the CC, then the HOF. The people that would be capable of seeing our
Treasured heritage would be in my guess 100 t0 1 given the location.

The Pool at the WSRC was part of the "Fanasstastic Direction" that is going to happen this year or tentatively sometime in the future with all probability or at least possibly, got to check the schedule of up chucking events ... They got fish in Sparta, some of the Legends of the Sport give trap and fishing lessons in his spare time sometime both at the same time when trying consolidate ... Sparta is there to stay, the real question is where is the grand going to go, end up, and when ...? If they are smart ( Key word: SMART) and follow the lead of the SCTP they will do much better, much faster and they can forget the small stuff ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
