I received a email and a phone call from Cam at Jaqua's. She told me they have sold the land in front of the Trap Range to a large retailer. The Trap part of the business will be closed but not the Retail Store. It will remain open in the same location. It is not a JOKE. Cam thanks everyone for their support.

    Ouch....That will hurt.

A lot of Ohio and Mich. shooters supported that club for many years.

    Regards.....Gerald

So sad. Over the years this club was my favorite. When I started shooting it was called Fisher Brothers Shooting Park, then when Bill Jaqua took over it was called Fisher Jaqua and then Jaqua's Gun Club. In my 59 years of registered shooting I have registered 161,000 targets at this club. It is hard to imagine how much I will miss this club, but I have so many great memories. Not only good targets, but also great people who worked at and ran the shoots.

If this is correct and I assume it is since Dave Berlet rang in on this. The OSTA Directors from the NW zone will need to select another site to hold the zone shoot this year. I will send and E-mail to them today to give them a heads up on this.

    That's sad.
How can we blame the ATA for this?

The Jaqua's trap club was like a second home to my family. There were many years that we spent 25-35 nights a year in our camper on the grounds. It was just a fun place to be. I will treasure the many memories I have of this great club. As sad as I am to see it close, I know it is so much harder on Cam. For the last few years the gun club was really a "labor of love" for her. If it were not for Cam, the gun club would have ceased operations a few years earlier. I wish nothing but the best for Cam and George in their retirement years and I thank them for all the great years we were able to enjoy their club.

When does this start? Shoot dates for 2015 have already been posted by Jaqua`s on the ATA site.

    Smokingtom,
The gun club portion of the business is closed and all shoots will be cancelled. I'm sure the OSTA will announce the location or locations of the upcoming NW Ohio Zone shoot as soon as arrangements have been made with new host clubs.

If I had a home club it was Jaqua's. Hate to see it go but can't blame Cam and George for selling, the land was worth way to much to be a trap club. I think that a privately owned trap club of mid size or larger has a hard time justifying the business. Help, Laws, and dwindling shooter numbers are a reality that can't be ignored. Brad

I'll bet the cost to reclaim or deal with the shot is minuscule compared to the $$$ involved in the deal.

Just got off the phone with Jaqua`s. Property surrounding the gun shop has been sold. NOT the gun shop itself. All 2015 shoots are cancelled.

I don't live in Ohio any more or even shoot much, but this is still bad news. I too started shooting there when the Fisher bros. had it. Nice place.

Bound to happen sooner or later, Findlay has been annexing the surrounding property for years. Tough loss - tougher figuring out where the zone will be. Wasn't Jaqua's a club that part of the Central Zone was held at also? On a rotating basis?

As I remember, it wasn't exactly a "rotation".

I am deeply saddened by Jaquas trap side closing, It was a business decision that had to be made, God bless Jaquas Gun Store
