I'm selling John Olin's personal Winchester model 50's. Its a 2 gun set, 12ga and 20ga. Papered from the Cody museum with receipts of sale, The 12ga is serial #1000, which is the documented #1 gun. Numerous Winchester books in publication have this documented as fact. John ordered an alloy cutts comp on his 26" donut post vr 12ga. There is no choke mark on the barrel. The story from Cody is Mr. Olin chipped his 12ga forearm when he removed it one day, forgetting about the cutts body.
His 20ga is a pigeon grade with a jeweled bolt and carrier. The 20ga is a fixed choke 28" full round post vr, marked as such. It has a field grade silver front bead up front. His 20ga forearm has a scratch on the right side. Both guns were enjoyed and shot by Mr. Olin.
The WCA has no record of any 20ga serial number lower than John Olin's 20ga, making many to believe it was the first 20ga made just for him. The 20ga guns did not have their own serial number assignments. The number assigned was in line with the existing serial numbers for 12ga, so its number indicates it was issued and assigned next in line in 1956, when the 20ga was first introduced.
Both guns are English 'e' grade straight stocks with leather pads. Both guns have silver center beads. Both guns have a LOP of 13 3/4" over their pads.
These guns were auctioned off by the Cody Museum to make room on the floor. The museum inventory stickers are still visible on both stocks. Only after doing so, did they realize what they did. Numerous owners have been approached by Cody and asked to have them donated back to the museum. These are the holy grail for model 50 collectors. Paperwork history will be included with these guns. I will not break up the set. Guns like this dont change hands very often. And when they do, its usually between high ranking glass ceiling collectors in the industry.
Here's your chance to own some unique american history thats rarily found in the ranks of the typical gun owners collections. ffl to ffl. Lower 48 only. As is................40,000.00 for the pair.

FIRST SET OF PICS WILL BE THE 12GA.

note the short arms of john olin....far right.
thus why his guns were made to 13 3/4" LOP.

herbs son Dr. Herbert Lynn Parsons was a friend of mine. he is truly missed.

here is the olin couple hunting in 1958. john with a model 50 and his wife evelyn, with a m21.
johns gun is possibly his 20ga since no cutts is seen.
then again, im sure he had more than one gun and one barrel.

looks like his #1 with cutts before he had a leather pad installed.
cant confirm its #1. cant see the e' stock or 3 diamonds on the forearm.
but we can confirm he liked his model 50's and the cutts compensator.
john olin is showing his gun to robert taylor.
