2026 PA Westy Hogans trapshoot half the entries of 2016

For those not in the know the Westy Hogans shoot was less than half of what it was in 2016. PA has one of the best venues in the trapshooting industry.

One problem is we used register targets so we could shoot the Grand. Very few do that since it went to a gun hating state so far away.

 

Classic trap numbers are just dying off.

Old timers aging out, costs through the roof, and a lot of the younger crowd jumped to sporting clays. Even a great PA venue can’t fight the bigger trend.

 

No event and no venue is immune to this trend, it is going to continue like the melting glaciers. Boxing, bowling, horseracing, and so many more are succumbing to trends of their own. We sure as hell can miss the good ole days of trap, but I think all of us that experienced those days are the richer for it. And for a lot of us old farts, those memories are the best thing we got going now!

I must respectfully call BS on your whole statement, especially the part about increasing costs and trends.

I saved several weeks moneys to go to the Grand. High inflation, wage stagnation, and almost all the steel mills in Ohio and PA closed. Plus we had to wait in line for gas. That was Golden Age of trapshooting.

But, that was Vandalia. BIG MONEY. BIG CROWDS. The same in Pennsylvania. And the targets were hard. The Scores were low. It was a competition!

Then we got some queer delegates. They made the targets easier. That broke the handicap system.

The we allowed the same queers to move our flag shoot to a gun hating state. You and the rest of the ATA sat on your hands and let it happen. We put the delegates in charge that ruined the sport. They were not held accountable then. They are not held accountable now.

Some make cowardly statements like "it is a trend." Does that exhonerate you?

Apathy has killed the ATA. Look the other way. Don't get involved. Don't talk to your delegate. That's the trend.

 

Most trapshooters wouldn't know who their delegate is. Most Delegates are there for a parking spot.
