It would be nice to know whos opinion to consider, and whos is just irrelevant.

So, if someone used to shoot say, 12,000 combined registered targets every year for years but quit, their opinion is “irrelevant”?

I am fortunate enough to make about 4 to 5 ATA shoots each year, including my state shoot OHIO. Calcuttas are the majority of my shooting, that is my favorite thing to do!

You are the guy who says awful things about people because you disagree with them, and continue doing so on this site even after they die! THE DAY AFTER THEY DIE!!! So for me you are 100% COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT whether you shoot or not.

Thousands of ATA Shooters were lost in a year. The ATA is 1/4 of what is was. The shooters they lost are the people they should be listening to. Business 101. Complicated for some.

8300 targets this year so far. Should hit 10,000 before August 31!

I do but no where near as much as I’d like to. The cost vs reward just isn’t there for me to burn all of my vacation to shoot more. I’d rather shoot smaller Calcuttas and games.

    4 or 5 shoots a year?

During the season, Spring to Fall, in western PA we shot 4 a MONTH. PLUS the western PA zone and State shoots in PA, OH, MD, VA, WV. Then the whole week at VANDALIA then the Tri-State.

Of course that was when we had a dozen clubs within 45 minutes of home shooting registered targets so people could practice and get enough targets to shoot the state and the Grand without penalty.

Now? I don't know of 3 clubs that even bother to throw registered targets since the MAJORITY of those shooters that used to go to the Grand won't go to that place in ILLnews.

The only thing that is now irrelevant is the grand.

Nope, not for 15 years or so, I've chosen to keep the money I won back then. I haven't shot a clay bird for about 5 years and don't miss it. I do go to Cloverdale on the 2nd Sunday of each month to eat and talk.

My first year at age 61. Over 5000 targets so far. One state shoot and one zone shoot so far.

Bet you miss asking, “Trapper Ready?” Or my favorite, “ARE ya ready?”
when you stepped up to the peg in the first ring.
Or the puller hollering, “Bring me five”
Or the $50.00 miss and out
Or the $100.00 ten bird race that you could re-enter as many times as you wanted.
Or the $150.00 two man 1-5-9 games where, if you and your buddy killed all nine birds it paid, a LOT!

Man, I miss that more than anything. Not a day goes by I don’t think of those fun times.

I didn’t leave the ata….. the ata left me
