Gosh saw an ad in the latest issue of Shotgun Sports magazine…”For Sale LJUTIC” the ad lists what a buyer will receive with the companies purchase…”designs, patents, sales opportunities and manufacturing equipment” for $1,105,000. My fingers are crossed that some entrepreneurs or investment group consider this incredible opportunity! I’ve shot Ljutics genius designed scatter guns for many long years…yes I've shouldered the P, K, R and other smooth bores out of curiosity (you know the condition “the grass is always greener”) but always very quickly returned to Al and Nadine’s target buster! Today we view an ever increasing number of clay target guns but I strongly believe a rebooted Ljutic selection could be very very successful. Classics unfortunately usually appear in history only once (remember the 63 split window Corvette Stingray?) Ljutic's are one those classics that deserve to be born again!

It’s been for sale for at least a year. There was an ad in T&F.

I would like to see ljutics come back.... I would think there would be a market for them...keep the quality up, the price down and adjustable ribs....there are low end and high end guns, a quality mid $$ gun is needed ..

The bones have been picked clean.

The sole patent that's still in effect, for a year or two more, is for the one-touch rib.

Beyond that, anyone could buy a used monogun, reverse engineer it, and start selling clones tomorrow with impunity. The only thing they couldn't do is call it a Ljutic. There are literally hundreds or more likely thousands of machine shops across the country that could start turning out Ljutic clones immediately, but the market/demand isn't there.

It would be an opportunity for a Turkish company to make a clone ala DT11 & Perazzi and sell it to compete with the BT99, but the market for a SBT is functionally non-existent, hence why they went under in the 1st place. And they'd be completing with a market flush with used Ljutics.

Unless the owners have a boatload of raw material, barrel blanks, and stock blanks to throw in, the value isn't anywhere near being there.

I know little to nothing of the Ljutic brand but I am fairly confident that it represents the meat and potatoes of American manufacturing of days long gone. With an exponential decline of trap shooters, I can't see that as a profitable business to attempt to resurrect in 2026 and beyond.

If a person were to restart it the best bet is to make replacement parts.

I absolutely hate the idea of any American gun company going out of business. Rumors of the current owner was that it was just a hobby business for him. If those are true, I guess that's what we get.

I actually went to Yakima and had a one touch custom made. Quite the place and quite the experience with great people involved. Definitely an experience I will never forget. You will never find a better made trap gun.
