1954 Franchi with a real bad rusty barrel. I sanded it up to 400 grit for 3 hours. Used an old Birchwood Casey blue kit from about 8 years ago and it worked fine. I would just use the blue next time, sanding and solvents got the thing clean enough. I put on about 8 coats and 2 full minutes of timing before washing off the juice. Not bad for a $40 investment.
For $40 and 3 hours of elbow grease, you kept an old Italian lady on the road. I'd say that's a win. Just keep it oiled.
