Illinois sends more shooters to their State Shoot than the Grand. Less than 600 made the trip to Sparta.

What politics am I missing? Or is the Sparta product that bad.

How many shooters did OH PA IN and MI send to Vandalia?

Your delegates are doing a great job!

The main complaint that I hear, is the issue of the heat and humidity.

The second most complaint is the distance from us chicagoland shooters.

And running a close third, is the lack of nearby lodging, and other attractions...

We told them not there. They said they didn't need OH and PA. Darn bad when Illinois doesn't like the place.

I remember going to the first grand in sparta illinois, I believe it was 2006. The complex was full of state police eyeballing all the goings on.

We talked to an ata official, about what plans were being made, to the area, to bring people to the area.

He told us that there were big plans to build major motels, restaurants, shopping centers, etc. in the sparta area the very near future. They were gonna plant shade trees, the grass was gonna grow in nice and plush, and the site and the surrounding area would grow, to attract more people.

Fast forward to 2025. I was down there last Monday, and virtually nothing has changed. I have been down there many times over the years, and it seems like the attendance is shrinking, not growing. It looked like there was less gun related vendors in tent alley, and more flea market stuff also.

The vendors in the permanent buildings on the west end were generally friendly, but the caesar guerini staff gave me the impression, that they wished they were somewhere else...
