If you are coming here drink water and don't wear flip flops. There is a pair still stuck to the concrete!

Kinda reminds me of when I sold a 682 Top single barrel to a shooter from Wisconsin, he said;"I'm going to the Grand" After the Grand I called him and asked how things went--he said it was so hot he went back to his truck and the temp under the truck said 115-he started the engine ,went back to his motel ,took a shower and went home ,all that traveling & expense for 25 targets ,best thing he didn't have a heart attack or heat stroke

shooting in that kind of weather is insane.

I can remember in Vandalia when they would be running the medics back and forth , because shooters were dropping from the heat and humidity, and the pullers were dropping also, that was when we had to hustle down 12 traps between each 25 targets. there is no way, I could ever do that again. but I sure do miss the old place, along with the beer tent. During what the late great Roger Smith called the “Golden Age” of the mid/late 70’s I would have shot if it was 120 degrees.
NOTHING would have kept me from chasing the dream. I spent every cent I made, after the car and insurance payment, on shooting or components. Ever write a $50.00 check for a local Sunday registered shoot knowing you HAD to win enough to cover the check?
Yeah, that’s how much I loved it. Never bounced a check either.
700 targets the first registered year. By the third year it was 4900. And in SWPA it wasn’t always nice weather. 1400 caps to get to get to the fence.
I shot every weekend anywhere they were throwing targets to get enough for “The Grand.”
And when it was time to head to Vandalia, I would have shot if it was raining crap for the entire week.
I wouldn’t go to that place in ILLnews if Gipson, or even hunter 44 paid all my entry fees.
I didn’t leave the ATA, the ATA left me.

I arrived in the afternoon. Opened the vehicle door and it was like an oven blast in the face.
