Good news (for now) for our trap shooting and hunting friends in Maryland. The bill that would ban lead ammunition was defeated, as well as a heafty tax on firearm & ammunition sales and a large liability insurance requirement for firearm owners, all either didn't make it out of committee or were voted down. Even though it seems innocent enough the lead ban is particularly onorous. Think about it; if lead in the soil was a health hazard, do you believe anyone would be able to survive, drinking the water in Adams Co, PA, site of one of the biggest battles in the Civil War if lead in the soil is hazzardous? Typically a competing trap shooter like myself shoots about a ton of lead shot a year, and there is no reasonable material, cost or performance wise, that substitutes for lead. I beelieve those bills would have effectively ended recreational shooting in MD.

Actually Ken, it takes more than luck. MD has a strong sportsman's council and paid lobbyists that are working behind the scenes as advocates for 2nd Amendment issues. Sadly, they aren't getting enough financial support from the sportsman's groups they're fighting for, and idiotic rules still get by them. Our clubs need to take a more proactive role when it comes to defending our Constitutional rights.
