There is a curious comment recorded in the official minutes of the 2023 Ohio State Trapshooting Association’s annual meeting. A person named Joe McPeek is noted in the minutes as not being a member of the OSTA? The OSTA constitution states that any Ohio resident that is also a member in good standing of the ATA shall be a member of the OSTA. There doesn’t appear to be any sort of requirement that a member shoot even a single registered target. I checked the ATA’s database and found one person living in Ohio with that name and they ARE a paid member of the ATA. Therefore, it appears Mr. McPeek is a member in good standing with the ATA. It seems to me that Mr. McPeek IS a member of the OSTA despite what the official minutes say. Am I missing something?

The bylaws of the OSTA were tossed out before Joe got to the meeting. The hick like manner this group operates is a dark contrast to a decade ago. I am not afraid to say this care less attitude began during Sarah's term. Let's hope for a change.

Mr. McPeek’s questions were directed towards the Ohio ATA Delegate after his presentation of ATA information and upon his calling for any questions pertaining thereto. Seemed like the appropriate time for Mr. McPeek’s questions since he was asking about ATA matters not OSTA matters. One of the OSTA Board members spoke out stating it was an OSTA meeting not an ATA meeting and instructed Mr. McPeek to address his questions to the ATA at their annual meeting in Sparta. Curious that an Ohio resident would have to travel to Sparta to speak with the Ohio Delegate. Can any member of the ATA speak at the ATA annual meeting in Sparta? If not, when is the appropriate time for shooters to address their Delegates in a public forum? Seems like a catch 22!

Have the Ohio shooters ever heard of a recall election. If so get on with it. Roger C.

    Don,

The idea that the ATA Delegate from Ohio does not have to answer questions was not invented this year.

In 2017, OSTA President Miller, interrupted me, stating that the Delegate does not have to answer questions at the OSTA meeting.

This statement is almost a tradition now. I have bumped that old thread. I was writing as Just Joe.

The question then was whether Gipson was illegally using ATA monies to repair Sparta without consulting the Real Property Committee. The answer was the same. Don't ask questions at the meeting.

I appreciate your support and the OSTA Trapshooters should appreciate the work you have done to make the HOF, and the OSTA what it was.

By-laws get in the way sometimes. One must wonder why a few of them protests so much. Why have the meeting?
