Can someone tell me what benefit I get from being a Life Member of the ATA.
I do enjoy the sport and I wanted to be part of it.

Other then not having to renew my membership each year what did I get out of this?

Someone that knows more then myself should be able to help me understand this question.
    Thank you for your knowledge.

You need to be a life member to be a delegate? You get a sweet gold card!!

Other than that you have to hope you shoot 21 yrs to save over the current annual fee.

    What Lord Maker said.
At my age it would be a BAD investment

Ok so in 1995 when I bought into this Life Membership , I can now say I am ahead of the game.
WOW, I feel like a winner, I need to head to the casino
At least I didn't miss out on anything.

    Thanks for the info.

Tax deduction, at one time it mattered now it usually doesn't add up when itemizing. If you pursue being a state delegate or alternate you'll need to be life member. Search "life" in the rule book at the ATA website.

Well that is interesting although I don't think I will be doing that.

    All the responses are interesting
    Thanks

I was fortunate to win a "Life Membership" at our state shoot. This was years ago and the life membership (as I recall) was $100. at that time.
A free subscription to Trap & Field was included at the time along with the annual average book.
Eventually all the "free" publications were eliminated and the organization starting charging for the monthly issues. Not me!!!
It has been approximately 40 years so I beat the system, although I have not shot registered trap for the last 25 as I switched to shooting sporting clays, which (by the way) is just as money hungry if not worse !!!
    Kind Regards,

Yes sir, money hungry is right,
I have been down that road too, Here is the funny thing about S.C. shooting, this game was to be shot like you were hunting ( Low Gun )
and to make it different then the regimental style of shooting that is trap and skeet a cross over, Its not, its held high gun or slightly off the shoulder.
So for all the bitchers about trap its come full circle. Now yes it has different types of targets and it uses the landscape to through targets in and around ( Different then trap ) but the game is fun to shoot as well, however you like to do it.

I paid $75.00 for my Life Membership because I wanted to be part of something that I felt was a good thing. I would not do it today.

At the 1976 Grand I broke a 98 in the Class Doubles Event in Class AA and won 75 bucks in added money. Like easy money is usually wasted I gave it right back to the ATA for a Life Membership.

The thing about being a life member is if you decide you don't want to do this anymore, you're still a member.

Hell, on the ata books if you die you're still a member.

I bought my life membership in the early 70's at $50. I've shot registered targets in just about each year since then. Turned out to be a good investment, I guess?

According to God's Word, if a person dies "in Christ", their soul will go immediately to Heaven awaiting the resurrection/rapture. If a person dies "without Christ", their soul will go immediately to Hell awaiting the Great White Throne Judgment by God.
