Mr Gipson - “where’s the shoot program” - Delegates

Some Delegates and shoot managers are miffed they have not received a viable shoot program from the ATA Leadership.

If the ATA does not come up with a solution they could have a mess of data on their lap. Just a heads up from those in the trenches.

Anyone with more information please post.

I assume you are speaking about a widely used shoot cashiering program and in particular the rumor that shooters will be charged an additional $3 fee per event at clubs that register ATA targets using that patent protected software. I thought there must be some mistake and it was actually $3 per day, but was told it was $3 per event, not per day.

As I understand it, details of official discussions are starting to make their way out to the members. The ATA leadership was asked why the Association has never had program software created for member clubs. The fact that the ATA established certain requirements on how shoot data is submitted without providing any assistance on this issue has some clubs suggesting a return to pen and pencil and/or the old card imprinters and letting the office enter all the data.

That's about all I heard, and I can't certify the story was accurate. I have seen no documentation. You're the first I've seen bring it up. Terrible timing if it's true.

Hopefully some shoot cashiers or Delegates will provide some details on the new proposed entry fee.

 

NOT proposed by the ATA or any state associations, this is the fee that 3s (or the new owners of what was 3s) is proposing that they receive for using their software. Obviously a tremendous push back by anyone using it.


If a club is not using it then they are safe. OH and PA don't use it at the facilities that have the state shoots, there are probably others. At Mason, we use it so there is a lot of discussion going on right now.

 

HB and alf174, I'm not clear is the ATA charging everyone 3 dollars an event or just someone using some reporting system they've dreamed up? I'd still like to hear from our Ohio Delegate or a current director.

I've not shot a registered target for a decade but I did put in 7 years on the OSTA board with a bunch of hard working other folks to help the CC get off the ground and more years as the TD for the Cardinal after Aden passed away. I'm not really impressed with what I hear coming out of the OSTA recently.

The OSTA needs to get their act together, just because I'm not active doesn't mean I'm not watching, and I know others are too.

 

Sometime ago I heard that George Cook sold his shoot cashiering program (called 3S) and apparently the new owners of this system now want a $3 per event royalty from every participant. I don't think they care where the money comes from. Gun clubs and State associations certainly are not going to pay it so this fee will levied to every shooter signing up for an event.

Clubs that use one of the few other available cashiering systems won't be affected, unless they change their agreement to also add an event fee for every entrant.

Shooters and gun clubs are the foundation of our association. For the life of me I don't know why our leaders don't do more to assist and safeguard them.

The Annual Average Book provides decades of proof of the decline of total registered targets and gun clubs. I'll never understand why so much attention was paid to babysitting the losing Satellite Grands, instead of providing assistance to our greatest assets, i.e. shooters and shooting facilities.

The ATA is not charging this fee (ATA still charges their $3 a day fee), it is the people that own the former 3s software that charge the fee to use their software. Apparently the software also requires a wifi connection to be used. If you don't use the former 3s software, then there is no new fee.

 

The GLG generated a profit at Mason last year. Not huge in the Black and but not red. We felt lucky after the losing year that was numbered 2020.

 

Ohio and PA probably have 15 shoots between them that aren’t satellite grands that are better attended. What’s that tell you?

Which Delegate can tell you if it is in Gipsons’s contract to search for a program? Trick question right? None of them! Lol. Bitching about what he does or doesn’t do is pointless if your delegates are clueless.

Ask your clueless delegate if he has seen the holy contract!!!! Lol
