Michigan Officer resigns - wanted financial statements

Someone within the Michigan hierarchy has resigned. The word is that it was over not being permitted to inspect the financial statements.

The financial statements including balance sheets and P&Ls are expected to be available to all at next week’s MTA annual meeting.

 

Why couldn't the president of the MTA have that info when he wanted it? I heard a lot of stories from some of the Michigan people I know at the Ohio State on Thursday. Hope they weren't true. again.

 

Brad, I can’t answer your question except to state that I was the State President before him and had complete access to all the financial data.

 

RUMOR: someone was paid $40,000 to run the MTA shoots in 2020. Also the MTA requested donations via mail from ATA members. The MTA did not have some/any? of these shoots due to Covid and some/all the money is MIA. That's the short version RUMOR I heard. No clue on the validity of it......

 

Rumors are often fun and at least partially accurate.
Fact: in 2019 Michigan hired a club Manager.
Fact: Managers do get paid.
Fact: in 2020 the shoots at Michigan didn’t happen because of an outdoor assembly limit of 100 people. That counts trap help, cashiers, and everybody else on the grounds. You can’t really have events with 75 shooters if you have to tell the 76th shooter to go home...
Fact: there was a donation request letter. It was posted on this site.
Fact: if there’s any money missing we should wait and carefully review the audited financial statements at the annual meeting next week.
Opinion: I really doubt that there is any money missing.

 

Always best to get ahead of rumors. Good move. Let us know what the story is in the end please.

 

At the MTA annual meeting this afternoon:
Slightly more than $28,000 raised in response to the donation request letter. It’s in a separate account and properly accounted for according to the MTA’s accounting firm.
The balance sheet is correct and the P&L shows a loss with the only income from a lease of some land for farming. The accountant gave a clean opinion on these documents.
The MTA got 2 federal Payroll Protection Program grants and took out a very low interest loan from the federal Small Business Administration. Additionally, a member loaned the MTA some money and they expected to pay the member back in full within a month.
The Board of Directors handled all the questions from the members very professionally.
ATA Central Zone VP Darryl Hayes gave a brief talk about the Grand and said there would be shells available.

Brad, this is just a RUMOR, I was not in attendance of the meeting. I was told a Michigan shooter asked the board in the meeting what was Rick's salary. The answer was that information did not need to be common public knowledge. Again, that was a rumor. Maybe Turbine can provide us with the straight scoop. I was reviewing the Kentucky state shoot results. There is a Ken Sims for Michigan shooting at the KY shoot. Is that the Michigan president? I only know one Ken Sims from Michigan. Maybe there are two. I know and have shot numerous events with the Ken Sims that is (or was) the president of the MTA. I am confused! I tried reviewing today (Saturday) results. Nothing has been posted.

So there is no money that is MIA or was stolen from the MTA correct? That is great news!!!!

 

As far as I know, the Ken Sims from Michigan was shooting in Kentucky last week. He was not at the Michigan State Shoot. There was no information from the Michigan Board of Directors about why he resigned. So, I have nothing to share about that. There were two questions about salary’s from longtime shooter Jim Creighton at the MTA annual meeting. He was referred to the salary line item in the Profit & Loss sheets which were handed out to all who were present.

 

Mr. Sims was shooting in Indiana today.
