Not a shotgun I know but definitely something sporting shotgunners will appreciate. This has been hanging on the wall at our club for as long as some of the original members that are still alive can remember since the clubhouse was built in 1956. Doing some clean up today and the club President handed this to me and said "here, take this home with you". I couldn't load it in my truck fast enough. I'll be hanging it in "the hunting and shooting room" as my wife calls the man-cave styled spare bedroom-office. I am guessing this dates late 50's to early 60's?

Well some research has shown this sign dates the 70's....not as old as originally thought but still going on 50 years plus or minus a few......still a cool piece for my shooting theme room.

You don't see many Irish Water Spaniels in commercials. Local gun shop had that poster nailed to an outside beam and would not sell it to me. You are a lucky man to find one. There is another one that I do have advertising for Ansley Fox Shotguns that has what I believe to also be an Irish water Spaniel swimming with a Red Head duck in its mouth.

I have that sign in my gun room as I have owned three wonderful Irish water spaniels, great dogs. It is from the 70's.

My wife showed me a link on ebay with a video where one sold at auction for almost $1500 and mine has zero marks etc and the one that sold had a few rust spots! If I could get $1500 for it I'd grab the cash and run! LOL

My take on it, for what it's worth. The sign shows a Federal Hi-Power 2 piece shell box. The 2 piece shell boxes were discontinued shortly before WW2. So the sign may be a promotional item of the 60's or 70's, it is representing a shell box some 30 plus years earlier. I know something about the shell boxes, not the promotional signs.

I don't know when they stopped, but in the early 60's the 12ga 3" magnums were still sold in the 2 piece box like pictured above.

I have that sign and have owned 4 Irish water spaniels. Absolute wonderful dogs. If my wife's health improves we will get another one to add to the three setters.
