    Per the ATA website:
2021 US Open and Grand American will be held at WSRC in Sparta, Illinois! The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has officially authorized the use of the World Shooting Complex for both events. Make sure to make your arrangements now!

    let’s hear those comments!

The DNR has a lease with ATA so this is not news, what does your gov say? Can you 100% guarantee that the Sparta Grand is going to happen. Authorizing something is not saying it will happen? Anyone counting on Illinois democrat government gets what they deserve.

    Brad M.....

Is this clause still in the lease?

    3.3 Termination for cause
The State may terminate this contract, in whole or in part immediately upon notice to the vendor if .......the actions of the vendor, its agents, employees or subcontractors .....could cause jeopardy to health.
Like if being open could cause the spread of a virus?

Is this clause still in the lease?

    3.4 Termination for Convenience
The State may, for its convenience and with thirty (30) days prior written notice to vendor, terminate this contract in whole or in part and without payment of any penalty or incurring any further obligation to the vendor.
It sounds like for any reason or no reason, "convenience", the state can terminate this lease. "Without payment"!

If it is still in the lease then the vendors should wait until they are in the 30 day window?

Wouldn't it be simpler to just give the vendors a guarantee?

I would assume so. Wording like this is in most facility or vendor use agreements. I actually have similar wording in my personal business contracts. I would not want the health and safety of my employees jeopardized in certain situations.

Allowing that type wording in a contract officially make you a dunce. That type wording eliminates a contract. I will translate it for you.

There is a contract unless for any reason or no reason we decide we do not want to abide by the contract. At least until 30 days before.

And it specifically says without payment.

That is one hell of a guarantee!

The ATA says it is a go. It would be nice to have the letter from the IDNR. I sense most of those going to Sparta will be point chasers and grouchy vendors.

The State of Illinois could issue a letter one day and use it for ass wipe the next, that is how they do and have always done business ... The only way to be assured is be there opening day, if the facility is open you lucked out if not somebody got a fart stuck and it won't be, check back tomorrow ... That goes for the Day to Day operation also, Illinois can pull the plug anytime they want and there is nothing anyone can do about it but piss and moan ... Renter's do not get to make the rules, they can only abide by them in a way to not P O the owner or else ... "That's the facts Jack " ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Merlo said that Illinois would not guarantee the grand, an authorization is no way no how a guarantee, so looks like poor ol' Merlo was right again. Who gives him/her/they this insider info now that N1H1 is molding underground.

  15. Of course they are full. They are free this year. Credits were applied from last year.

Strange Illinois couldn’t give the vendors credit. Gun hate state simply ripped them off.

You couldn’t fool the SCTP with “free”. They offered free targets and SCTP still said no.

You might be stuck there now. I am not sure Missouri will bail you out.

Did you "hear" that from the same people that claimed there were 30,000 people there a few years back?

Guess they won't need to contact any of the midwest shooters to make up the difference in Eastern shooters that STILL WON'T GO TO THAT PLACE.

Hope you are ready for the 4000+ shooters that will be entered in Event 24. Fifteen years of pathetic numbers and now the place is packed. Should be a record number of entries.

    It's a miracle I tell ya.

Brad. It is not only Sparta that the real trap shooters do not like. It is How the EC has ruined the competive game of trap into a feel good sport. You would not understand how we competiters dislike how they have changed the sport.
That is why I decided today having shot over 350,000 registered targets to quit shooting them.
No one follows the rules of the game, so why waste time and money on something that is not an enjoyment anymore. My camping spot is up for grabs. Roger C.

Going to need a building the size of a warehouse to hold the pictures of all the shooters that quit shooting the grand when they moved it to that White elephant.

Not a problem though. All those Midwest shooters will make up for any difference.

That's what winston said. The midwest base will make up any difference.
Translation? The grand won't miss the money us Eastern shooters spent because the Midwest guys would cover it. It's always been about how much money the ata was going to make. As long as the money was coming it it didn't matter where it came from.

Didn't quite work out that way did it? The problem is the midwest shooters not showing up in enough numbers to cover.

Not all change is totally for the good. Sometimes change also comes with negative consequences.

Change that may not be in the best interests of an association can be largely avoided when the final decision does not depart from your due diligence rules.

Neil Winston called me ( phone ) one day and before he said anything he wanted me to agree the call was in strict confidence, said he would deny he and I ever talking if push came to shove ... Before I would swear to anything I asked him "why me" ? ,he said he felt I influenced people and he would rather my be in favor of Sparta as opposed to against, also he felt I was a man of my word ... After a brief lead in (Narrative) Neil told me he didn't think Sparta was the best place to re locate to but the only place that could be readied on such short notice and if it was done right it just might work and someday get many of those opposed to it to end up being in favor of it ... He also felt that if it failed the ATA could bail out the State of Illinois and buy the facility for pennies on the dollar if it ever came to that ... I told him to me that is like buying oats for a dead horse hoping to revive it ... I told him to use the "Wish in one hand, shit in the other and see which ones fills up first " method and PRAY, he acted like he didn't hear that ... I could usually get Neil to hang up on me at least once and as many as 3 times in one conversation by not being willing to see his point or place as much value on things as he did ... He was stubborn and in my humble Opinion Neil was not happy about many things in life .. He told me he felt he was never accepted, respected by the BOD , or EC due to his involvement in some changes that he initiated that did not turn out the way he planned, because they didn't do it right ... The conversations we had usually turned out to be arguments (heated disagreements ) and being as I never saw things the same as he did we made a Gentleman's agreement to avoid each other, even block each other on the site to eliminate debates which he actually enjoyed unless he didn't always win ... (I kept Neil blocked for Months after he died, just in case) Neil was very manipulative both in word and actions ... I got to the point where I would copy/ paste and file things that could possibly be denied in the future, so I could ( and did on many occasion) jog his memory (dumped that file not long ago) ... Neil respected me but did not like me, those are two thing he and I agreed on about each other ... . WPT ... (YAC) ...

I really was sincere when I said Neil was the biggest ass hole I ever met in trap shooting. He was never wrong about anything in his mind and never right about anything in fact concerning trap shooting. He left the trap shooting world 20 years to late.

A lot of vendors won't be there . Probably because of the state trying to fleece them for rent last year even though they were LOCKED OUT of their buildings !! I hear Jaquas won't be there. The NRA has backed out so NO free ammo with membership this year. MEC won't make the trip either. Myrlen will a no show as well as. Seitz says they are not coming . So many are saying they are not coming that If you look at the Grand program they don't even have a vendors list this time !!!

After what happened to the Empire Grand, and now NYSATA is asking for anyone to apply for puller and trapper positions for the NY State shoot.

I certainly HOPE the EC can get enough help for the Grand this year.

I suppose if the attendance is down they won't be in need of so much help, but I am just saying...What IF !

Seems like help is a pretty big issue all over. I have had other States representatives ask me what NY is doing to boost the Help situation, but I have no other info other than what I am told so far, so I cannot say for sure.

    Good luck !

This below is from the NYSATA web site.

    Attention shooters and clubs:

This call is going out early so that we can plan our schedule.
We need help for the state shoot. We are looking for people over the age of18 to help score or help load trap machines.

There may be some young men or young women who would like to make some extra spending money before college. The offer is also open to seniors who would also like to make some extra spending money.
We need several people to fill spots that were open from our last shoot.
Anyone interested in working the state shoot from July 6th to the11th please contact Larry Daigler or Jim Wright.
    Please let us know ASAP.
    Thanks for time.

Pump gun guy, MEC will be there, Seitz chose not to renew there lease. There building is now the Fiocchi building. Jaquas surrendered there lease 2 years ago, there store is now the Trap Clubhouse, locked out huh? Every one of their keys still work. NO ONE WAS PHYSICALLY LOCKED OUT. I don’t understand how some folks can’t seem to understand that. During the pandemic for 2 weeks they were requested to call before they arrived so someone could open the gate for them. the list of sponsors is usually located on the back few pages.

The list of vendors used to be in a colored section showing where each one was located . It is not there now. At first MEC said they were not coming . If they have decided to come then great but, a lot won't be there including the NRA . Seitz won't renew and i don't blame them. Merlyn and some others are evidently not going to also. The state of ILL. ( or I guess it's liberal headed Governor) refused to allow the Grand to be held in Sparta . I guess lease agreements don't mean anything to a LIBERAL. The idea that vendors should pay rent when the event that they used their buildings for was canceled by the nut job Governor in ILL. is nothing short of INSANE ! They screwed over the vendors plain and simple . Heck that dirt bag Governor screwed over not only the ATA but, the whole town of Sparta ! I'm thankful that MO. stepped up and saved the Grand in 2020. The bottom line is there are a lot of vendors who won't be at the Grand due the shenanigans of that worthless Richard Cranium Governor. and that is a shame.
