On July 15 the Muscoda Gun Club was struck by lighting and was destroyed by fire. It is the home of Wisconsin's largest team shoot which is held on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend and it will be held this year in spite of this disaster.
We started a GoFundMe page. I hope the link is able to be placed here if not Joe please let me know.

Talked to Mike P. - sounds like you aren't wasting any time getting back up and running --Sounds like you have a great bunch of hard workers up there ---not going to set you back on your big shoot I hear? Just a tip to all the team shooters - If you plan on going to the team shoot --Cash donation will reach the club 100% over a go fund-me donation!

Regarding GoFundMe, based on the posting (below) taken from their donation page, I am to understand the donation is 100% to Muscoda.

"GoFundMe has a 0% platform fee for organizers and relies on the generosity of donors like you to operate our service."

Then it allows a tip of $0 and up.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong (re: goal is for Muscoda to net 100% of what's donated).

    Thank You!!!

Ken - I see you club threw 37,625 registered targets last year - But the team shoot is no a ATA event? Is that your biggest shoot for the year?

rrisum The team shoot is non registered and that is why it is so big. When the WTA had the team shoots which were registered, we were lucky to get 10 teams in the last few years. One year not too long ago we had 93 teams that is 465 shooters we got them thru on 6 traps in 11 hours.

Attended the shoot today at Muscoda, a great place made up of great people!!!

It is clear they will rebuild and continue to offer fantastic shoots.

Please help as you can, every dollar counts...

  8. We throw more targets the day of the team shoot than we do all year registered, plus not counting the targets we throw on practice night. Thanks to all that have contributed and hope more comes in yet, still haggling with Ins. co. they want your money, but tight purse strings when it comes to paying. Virg

Heading up for the team shoot and drop of a donation -- is it true you only throw green targets?

Thank for coming up and YES we do throw green targets. Everybody seems to like them. In fact when we first started to throw them at our team shoot the scores went way up. If I remember correctly we had over 20 100 straights and a lot 99's and 98's also. I think you will like them.

Ben Smith is down here at my place to hunt Doves for a few days and he was keeping me up on your gun club fire. He said you got most of the old stuff (history) out he thought, I hope he was right, history is important. Good Luck

Ben is right. We were able to get all of our pictures, plaques, guns, and our other memorabilia out. The fire was up in the attic part of the building and the fire department was able to give the members that were there early a chance to get in and salvage all of this. I thank God for the members that were able to get there early and had the thought of saving these historic items and the Muscoda Fire Chief that gave them that opportunity to save these items.

Stories like this warm my heart. With so much hate and unrest in our world, so many nay-sayers, this shows that there are many good people in the world who pull together for a positive cause and care for one another. Hats off to the fine folks in Wisconsin.

Ken - Thanks for posting the score sheets - history is important Brad - So is the young shooters - Muscoda discounted their entry fee for the young shooters - Right when they need the money the most -That was very impressive for me - A club remembering the past, but looking to the future - Just a great blue collar, hard working club, - and yes Brad , as you have said many times , you don't need a $15,000 gun to shoot - I couldn't make the shoot off, but our club had a farm boy shooting a 686 Beretta and another, team member shooting a Remington 1100 both with 100 straight . --Ken -- keep us informed on your building progress.
