My insiders are saying that even if Covid is gone at the last minute, the issue of labor is huge. No U S Open. No summer shoots. Little labor to draw from.

Maintenance is another issue that keeps arising.

I am told that if there is no grand at Sparta this year, the venue will be finished.

    I report. You decide.

    "Butt hurt" ? Probably right,

And they have shown that FOR THE LAST 14 YEARS by NOT GOING to that outpost in the middle of BFNarobi.

    Here's a real LOL stat

Last years Event 24, 1,978 entries? Now there's something to be proud of.

FYI, I think they will hold that shoot again this year in ILLnews. The ata will pony up ANY AMOUNT that state wants to keep it there.

ILLnews is so good at it they should have a National Pickpocket Convention there.

Bama, The GRAND has lost its luster. It is not the ultimate shoot that it was many years ago. The best day of trap shooting are behind us now, and they never will be relived. Very sad, but true. We who lived and enjoyed the hey days of the sport, are the luckiest shooters on earth. I'm happy to have been a part of the old days, and sorry that our new shooters will never have that feeling . Just (05-14-2020 @ 11 AM our time ) got off the phone with a Buddy of mine who is a shooter from Illinois, said there are lots or rumors floating around but nothing you can hang your hat on ... They are still restricted, a few of them drove up to Wisc and shot some practice at a club that was open but had very few customers ... (didn't mention the name ,nor did I ask ) ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Sparta is alive and well, work being done there daily. I could tell more but for now I won't. The problem isn't the WSRC, the ATA or anything like that. The problem is the governor and his total lockdown policy. The previous governor screwed the pooch and lost the SCTP. Same could happen here if he doesn't pull his head out of his A$#. June 15 is the deadline.
If cleared the WSRC will be more than ready.
I report and you (wait- somebody else already says that )

Sparta is not alive and doing well. Their is no work being done daily their either. I work about 200 yards west of the sporting clays range at the shooting complex. The place is gated up tighter than ft Knox. I drive by it twice a day.

Maybe he should have offered them free targets.

Just because the gates are closed does not mean work is not getting done. The gates are closed because the state says so, employees are still working. I can personally assure you Doug that things are getting done. I could stop by the machine shop and give your more details if needed. They have a Facebook page for the trap events to keep people up to date and contractors are in and out During the week working on things.

I don't do Facebook Brad,I'll have to take your word. I've never seen any vehicles going in or out of the complex.

Looks like a veiled threat to me. I get vacations for less.

Better watch what you say. This guy is coming over.

I’ve actually always wondered what the inside of there building looks like. No threat intended. I’ve always been intrigued with mines and mining property. Staff is working at the WSRC. They, we, I are bound by what our governor wants to do. It’s a shame. I just hope when all this mess is over, we all go back to our local clubs wherever they may be and just shoot. I really miss seeing all the local shooters who were the “regulars” and my shooting friends.

Brad M Here in Ohio Moulton is shooting right now. Last Wednesday evening they had shooters (local) shoot 65 rounds of practice and the SCTP teams practice how many more rounds I don't know. They'll be shooting this Wednesday too. Moulton, Just Like the Cardinal Center, isn't owned by the government thank God. Unfortunately just like you are bound by the Illinois government so is the ATA.

You hear that boys. They are painting that tiny room. We are shooting indoors. They got the water system working yet and the mold out of the ceilings? Oh. Does this mean you are coming to visit me? You need to see the inside of my shop?

90-95% of our work at the South plant is for the steel Mills,no mining work. Brad,I didn't take anything you said as a threat.

Smithy, The water is working, plumbing contractor got all that taken care of last month to my knowledge. Electrical guys are making sure all the parking lot and building lights are working. I haven't seen any mold, doesn't mean there is not any. Pretty sure the buildings get pickled(low heat, water winterized) pretty good for the winter. I think there all up and ready to go now. Before there wasn't a "clubhouse". It will be nice to have a place right on the fields. IMO there should of been one from the get go. I know a lot of people who do not care for the WSRC and that it was built with state funds, and will never make money, etc. It's what we have. I enjoy shooting no matter where it's at. Where are you located at? I always like shooting at different clubs and seeing how other people run there operations and how things are laid out. There are alot of "neat" gun clubs and lots of old timers at most to chat with about the way things used to be. I'd love to get over the CC way some day and see some of the clubs talked about on this forum. They sound like top notch places to shoot.

Brad M, are you working closely with the new WSRC director? Not that it matters but I get the feeling you actually work for the WSRC . If so, good for you and I hope you work there for many more years.

    Post pictures whenever you can.

BTW, if you are working for the WSRC and have contact with the new director, tell her not to hire any company that gipson recommends. She could probably find a better price on her own. Just sayin....

Is that a Release Trigger sticker I see on the roller pole?
Somebody better check to see what's up with the water spot on that piece of ceiling tile

    Hey Brad
I have been in the vendor buildings. The dark on the ceiling tiles is where the vent system goes thru. All dark right? Moisture and mold still there making those tiles dark? Wasn’t that issue in the minutes. You said the plumbing was fixed. Dried up bugs still in the fountains that don’t work?

Hey Brad. How about a picture of those fountains working.

    Brad M,
The FB page hasn't had anything added since April 30th. Do you know what "Phase" ILLnews is in?

    Chicago-Sun Times 5/5/20

"To get to Phase 4, regions would have to see “continued decline in its positivity rates and hospitalizations and maintain surge capacity,” in order for restaurants, bars, spas, cinemas, retail and health and fitness clubs to reopen with new capacity limits, Pritzker said.

That phase would also allow for the reopening of schools, summer and fall programs, childcare and higher education. All outdoor recreation programs would be allowed. Public gatherings in Phase 4 would be limited to 50 people, but the governor warned that number is subject to change “depending upon what the science tells us at the time.”

Just a WAG but I don't think a "warning" would be if the number increased to above 50. That sounds like it could be lowered to less than 50. Like going back to 10?

The ultimate phase, Phase 5, would mean a full reopening of the economy, but it includes a giant caveat. It would begin “with a vaccine or highly effective treatment widely available or the elimination of any new cases.” The final phase allows for conventions, festivals and large events to begin again, meaning, events such as Lollapalooza and other major business conventions will be on hold until the state gets to this phase."

They were right about one thing on FB. The Grey paint does look better than the White.

They keep talking about a vaccine like there is one ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Illinois Governor Pritzker’s emergency rule change locks down the state for 150 days, makes criminals out of those who violated new rules ( 5 months)
    MAY 16, 2020

Got this in an E mail a few minutes ago, from a friend who lives in Illinois ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I think the fact of the matter is Illinois has always been a anti-gun state and this will more than likely be the last nail in the coffin for Sparta .I think there are a few people ignoring the fact that the state of Illinois is broke as hell and this pandemic has made there already terrible situation much worse and it doesn't appear Trump is wanting to bail them out. if you think there will be a grand in Sparta this year you are surely not looking at the big picture.
