I am not saying I heard Lynn Gipson call the Cardinal Center. But, he did. . Right?

So what did ATA Director Gipson ask Jack? We all know the call was made.

My pals say the Illinois governor isnt putting much effort into maintaining the place. Almost none. Surprised?

So what happened in the conversation that never happened? But it did.

    I report. You decide.

The State of Illinois is in trouble, they cannot pay essentials let alone maintain any of the Recreation areas and or State Parks ... This does not look good from where I am standing ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

A couple quotes by someone that should know something

    4/4/20
"Guys if this crap is not over we won't even consider another option. It's either gone and safe or not going to be !"

Not sure what "gone and safe" means. Maybe? just a typo and was supposed to be "going to be safe"

    4/25/20
"I can say if all possible there will be a Grand . May not be in August and may not be in Sparta . May not be the Grand of past. Going to be a lot of seeing how things play out ."

Looks like 20 days can make a difference.

The part about "not be the grand of past"?

It hasn't been that for 14 years.

Flyers where did those quotes come from? If Jack would listen to me I'd told him to tell the ATA and Gibson to go to hell.

Jack is smart enough to know if he can make money why not.

He won't make money. The Cardinal Classic makes money and that shoot would go away if the ATA sneaks in. If I was Jack I'd be worrying about what the SCTP was going to do. July comes pretty fast after June and shoots are already cancelled in June.

Who's going to drive across the country with their kids for a trap shoot this summer? They may not even be allowed to camp and eat in restaurants aren't open yet in Ohio. There may not be anything more to do around Columbus than at Sparta this summer.,

I'm glad I'm not selling $20,000 single barrel trap guns for a living. What the EC started the China virus is finishing. I would think just about anyone could see it coming, but what would I know? 2020 ATA looks dead to me.

I will not give a plug to any other site but it was the Indian in the middle of that picture I posted of “Thorn in Bottom” shooting the insulators.

"The one in the middle was the tribe's piece pipe maker. Since the ceremony usually consisted of one person passing the pipe to the next by "laying" the pipe in their hands he was known as "Layer of the Pipe."

IF, and a BIG IF, the ata came calling I would listen to any plan they put out there.

    And then answer them,

The Cardinal Classic makes money and so would a shoot held at the same location just before it. Biggest problem I see is the inability of the squadding and paying area to handle the crowds. Just think how many cooped up trapshooters might want to spend a few weeks in Ohio if the Covid ban is lifted around that time. Never say never!

The so called experts say this thing is going to run its course and that is at least 18 months. And most likely resurface with a vengeance in the fall. The only thing I see saving the 2020 ATA season is a vaccine and I don't see that happening.
One thing you don't hear much about is the mechanical HVAC system circulating the same air through out the building. I would not want to be working in that kind of atmosphere squadding and cashiering.
Most of the younger shooters probably will come out unscathed. But sure could pass the covid 19 to us old farts.
In my younger days I worked at many Top Secret locations in MD, VA and DC. Installing some of the most technical advanced filtration systems in the world for weapons of mass destruction. I was never told exactly what I was exactly filtering. But myself and others had to suit up each day.
What I'm getting at is inside especially the return ducts are generally lined with an acoustical fiberglass liner. This acts like a sponge holding all manner of crap.
Mark my word, this is going to be problematic with the covid 19.

Just added; Nursing homes, meat packing plants and hospitals come to mind.

Experts say a vaccine is likely years away if ever. We all gotta die sometime.

I agree, but dying by drowning in your own body fluids is not high on my my list of ways to go. Now dying by trying to outrun a jealous teen age husband, well that's an entirely different story.

Rookieshooter, All that would have to be done is put ultraviolet lights in the HVAC units. We are doing
it currently at a Naval Base where I’m a DOD contractor. A lot of the explosive operations are using the
UV lights in the return air filter sections as it kills everything. They are testing to see if low doseage of
UV will kill Covid. If it does you will see them in every building in the US.

They are using UV lights to clean intensive care rooms after a covid pt leaves.

    Fantastic news!
BTW, are you talking the Washington Navy yard, If so I was a contractor that installed the HVAC in the Navel museum above all the artifacts? I also was a contractor that is on file with the ''Architect of the Capitol''. Well that was years ago.
I worked in many military bases, Quantico, Pax River where they tested jets and Andrews that housed the Prez's plane.
and many other Top Security places like Fort Detric in Fredrick MD and Aberdeen proving grounds. Some places so secret that they did not even have an address. I had to go thru an extensive security clearance at NSA, at Fort Mead. The things that gov has in it's inventory would boggle your mind...enough said!

On another topic, I have to take another MIR on my spine, hope they clean out that tube thingy with ultraviolet light?

Heard along the "talking wire" regarding the grand IF and only IF the ata had to move it.

"There are 4 sites being considered .

The Cardinal Center is interested as are others ."

To me that would imply that they already talked to someone at the CC.

The Cardinal Center has been contacted but their leadership is being re-shaped. There may not be a con-census. This could get interesting.

I would not be surprised to hear “forever or never”.

    I report. You decide.

Geez, then they would have to GIVE up the State owned THOF Museum building to the State of Illinois.

OR, leave it there with all the artifacts so nobody can see them.

NOTHING would surprise me at this point.

I really do not know what to think but I do know the ATA needs Cardinal Center a hell of a lot more than Cardinal Center needs the ATA ... The ATA has been crumbling bit by bit as the Cardinal Center continues to grow and expand in oh so many ways ...Integrity is obviously part of the Magic that keeps that happening as time passes ... The artifacts from the Illinois HOF building would probably have to go back into storage unless Mr. Fishburn expanded the Museum at CC ... I think the bargaining agents for the Cardinal Center have a lot more on the ball than those in charge at the WSRC in Illinois and or the EC of the ATA , time will tell and then we will all know ... Best of Luck to all involved ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
