If you are on the 27, you should be classified as A in singles minimum. That should eliminate some of the occupy the 27 gang.

    I agree. I also think 25 and 26 - B, 23 and 24 - C. I know a 27 yard shooter that won D class 3 years in a row at a state shoot. 100 all 3 years.

I could never understand sandbagging singles.

What's the reason for wanting to get rid of 27 yd gang? They don't bother me none. Just asking.

Ya know, I hadn't ever thought much about this. I think one of the bitches that has run through the ATA in recent years is the control and manipulation of the rules (including the running of big events and especially the Grand with its lovely new home at Sparta) by the locked in officers and directors. My read on the many, many posts on this 27 yard issue is the hostility against those very folks for the rule allowing them to refuse to take reductions so that the ol' boys (those very officers and directors) can stay with their buds at the fence.
But, I actually agree with you Sr. Who cares if those old farts want to make fools of themselves from the 27. Don't bother me much either.
And if I were in that non-performing 27 yard group, I would be much more embarrassed posting sub 80 scores from the 27 about every time I shot than I would being seen at the humiliating shorter handicap distances.
    Regards, Jake

    I found this interesting:

Name: ROBERT MUNSON ATA # :2809898 Yardage: 26

IMO, Bob Munson is one of the all time greats.

I think you earn yardage in both directions. I've always taken mine but others can choose for themselves.

I don’t care who stands at the 27 as long as they can shoot from the 27. Right now we have the blind old farter rules for those that can’t handle that. We get four mulligans and easy targets.

Registered shooting was supposed to be about competing. You should not know who you are shooting with or what bank.

    27 D is a choice!

Im getting real close to being done with singles. Singles is a miss and out game. Not much worse than getting a 23 or even 24 on the first sub event of 200 singles and knowing your day is over.

If i were to stop singles I would save 30% of my ammo, time, and money. And 60% of my aggravation.

There are people out there that can shoot handicap well but can't hit a 16 yard target at all. You can still shoot with 27 yarders if you are on the 25.

It's the ones that seem to make a miraculous come back at their State or big money shoots that irk me and plenty of others.

Hey A.H., nothing anyone can do to make a < 95% 16 yard average shooter completive from any yardage. BTW, A. H. is someone's initials.

I forgot to add, MAKE THE TARGETS HARDER and THE ANGELS WIDER. Trap shooting did the same thing that NASCAR, Bowling, Education, Democrats, the News Media, Pro Football, Golf has done and dumbed down themselves. Ribbons for everyone is not a winning strategy.

When you are going around in your day to day life do what I do and asked what would President Trump do? But it's to late to save the ATA anyhow. Once this Carnivora Flu hits what 's left of the ATA shooters at some shoot It's all over with anyhow. Small (and old) communities spread diseases fast among themselves.

Brad is right but you can’t make the targets harder without embarrassing the occupy the 27 gang that can’t shoot from the 24.

Better stick to coyote trapping-your odds are far better than a handicap win.

I have integrity in my shooting, and If you do not have Integrity, you have nothing, and that goes to the ATA officers.
Real ATA Shooters have Integrity above everything else, I stand Proud of my Lifetime accomplishments. I always shoot my best, and my best in everything I do. I feel Brad, Dave, Roger, WPT, and the likes have integrity.
