There is a club in Fl, that will be installing shot curtains--for those who have shot @ a club using a shot curtain-please reply to the following ?

Of the following which target would be the best,
    Orange Dome
    NY Style
    Solid Orange
    Lime Green
    Green Dome

    Thanx guys

The shot curtains at the Cardinal are dark in color so really any bright solid colored target would stand out against them. The only issue I’ve noticed with the all orange targets at the Cardinal happens when the wind causes the target to rise high enough that the sight line through the target is above the top of the curtain. Under those conditions I think a NY style target would be better than an all orange. This situation might be unique to the Cardinal due to the distance the shot curtains were placed from the traps. If the sight line through the target will never get above the top of the curtain I would say a solid color would be best. I really enjoy shooting into the curtains at the Cardinal! JMHO

The all orange targets at the Cardinal Center are a mistake. The New York or orange dome would be better. Probably the New York would be the best.

Do you mean the curtains are too close.

Just the opposite. It’s just my opinion, but I think the curtains are a bit too far from the traps. I’m not as certain as my friend BIG PAPA is that NY or orange dome would be better. The black rim of the orange dome target might be harder to see against the dark curtain background. Since I’ve never shot anything except the all orange against the screen background I can’t say for sure what type would be best. At a facility as large as the Cardinal Center, I feel the shot curtains are the best way to ensure that every bank of traps is equal to the others.

You can search back through some older threads about it, at the casino right now so I don't have time, but I remember the number 115 being mentioned.
What I don't remember is if it's 115 yards from the house or the 16 line.

I would sure like to try some New York's over there. Don, I am still trying to find any place that I have ever shot that i like the all Orange targets. For me, there is always a streak and without the small amount of black, you do not have a good of depth perception. JMHO

I’m with ya BIG PAPA. I’d like to try the NY style too. I don’t have any problems shooting all orange or all white targets at night under the lights or into the shot screens during the day. I don’t experience the streak issue with solid color targets but I think they are harder to see into a light sky background. I do understand that this was the first year for the screens at the Cardinal. Luke has to order millions of targets well before shooting season starts in order to have them available in time for their big shoots. It’s hard to make a change under those conditions.

U are dead on Don with the ordering of targets. The cardinal is one of White Flyers largest customers. I think Luke had enough complaints last year with the all orange targets that I would think he will switch to the New York's this year. But, if he does not, both you and I will shoot what ever he throw"s. LOL

What would be the optimum distance from the 16 yd line for a shot curtain--since targets ar designed to land 50 yds out from the center of the machine--would 90 yds from the 16 work-- the club which I'm supporting is a sporting clays club and they want to get into trap

I would suggest you contact Luke at the Cardinal Center. I am sure he will be able to answer any questions you might have. For some reason, 116 yards sticks in my mind on the distance at the Cardinal from the 16 yard line.

If you go to stop-shot.com, should be able to answer all your questions. Cost, design layouts, instillation instructions, everything is there.

When's the last time you saw target color like on those old Remington Blue Rocks? All we get now is "barn orange" on White Flyers.

You are SOOO right about color, don't want to beat a dead horse, but IMHO the brightest easiest orange to see is on an EuroTarget clay--they light up--not talking about breaks, but color

Thought you may enjoy seeing the orange targets of the good old days.

Now here are more of different eras.

I think those PINK ones would stand out pretty good against any back ground.

Sorry, I forgot the mod doesn't want full size pics, you will need to click on the link to see.
