Lynn Gipson earned or was rewarded with $200,000.00 from the ATA. Is that a lot? Someone is making a profit off the non-profit?

    I report. You decide.

Quite frankly, I would have no idea, because I don't know how much he actually makes for the ATA over and above what would be a normal year's profit.

If the ATA profited an extra $1,000,000.00 from his efforts, I would say the 20% to him would be a little excessive.

I did just today receive an Ad for Gipson Guns from the ATA. It would be wonderful to see IF this corporation of Gipson's paid for the ad, or if this is one of the so called perks he gets.

    Again, I don't know.

I would like to read his job description, that the ATA supplied at the time of hiring. I would also like to see the real results compared to his efforts in carrying out the directions. Then make the salary decision. Roger C.

As I stated on another discussion, every Delegate should be able to answer these questions since according to annual filing of the Form 990 to the IRS and State of Illinois state the following:

    E.D. Incentive Basis2.jpg

How many Delegates do you think have a clue of what the Executive Director is paid or the objectives and goals they reportedly established?

This is where Delegate readers are invited to comment on their knowledge of the Association's financials.

I do not know of any employer who pays merit raises at the rate Gipson is getting paid besides the benefits ... There is something that is not obvious and will probably never be divulged with regard to his pay grade and the raises he has gotten in a short period of time ... I go to shootata.com on occasion to see what or if anything has changed besides check out some of the attendance reports and I personally do not see anything that would constitute Lynn ( The Talking Head ) Gipson to be getting paid that much money ... Maybe (guessing ) he knows something and they are paying for him to keep it to himself, based on other who were hired and let go before they could get settled in and address so obvious problems ... If you listen to him talk, most people would not want him to represent them to the public because he does not talk like an educated person unless he is broadcasting BS about fantastic directions, turning corners, finally getting on the right road (recovery) and a few other monumental comments he has used ... If you watch the one video that was posted of him in a meeting he seems to be wondering where the Hell he is as he rustled the papers on the desk in front of him ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

According to sources, the A.T.A. has paid the Executive Director nearly $1.2 million from January 1, 2012 through September 30, 2018. (7 years)

"Bonus / Incentive" compensation for 2017 was $62,506
"Bonus / Incentive" compensation for 2018 was $51,151

For the 2018 Target Year, the A.T.A. paid our Executive Director over $200K for his efforts.

Hey, when you meet those goals and objectives established by our Delegates, you get rewarded.

I honestly don't know Garry. To my knowledge it has never been made public.

We can't seem to get one member of the Board of Directors to inform us on the compensation discussion, or even comment on any of the hundreds of forum subjects.

I suspect this is news to most Delegates and I would hope that perhaps one might pose that question to those who were put in charge of the Association.

News, because I don't believe the Executive Director's compensation has never been included in the annual Financial Audit provided annually to every Delegate.

I don't mean to be redundant BUT, I will repeat what was told to me for the benefit of this forum's new members.

The Annual Members will be notified on a "NEED TO KNOW BASIS".

    'Nuff said ?

Heck, this even applies to the LIFE members now from what I understand.

HB, I was being sarcastic when I asked what the goals and objectives of the ATA delegates were. I have looked on the ATA website and have not found them. I have also looked for the written whistleblower policy that ATA management said they had on IRS Form 990. Transparency and telling the truth would be two great goals for the ATA.

I see there is 1 vote in the " as much as he can get" category.

    Thank you for voting.

I doubt if whatever you got on the back end of the building deal was sufficient enough but hope it helps you reach the goal of getting as much as you can.

Dollars in the bank ????? or the supposed value of the ATA's Hedge Fund on paper ?????????

Dollars generated from increased membership and participation should be the question ...... NOT, NOT, NOT faux numbers on paper from estimated Hedge Fund valuation .....

The ATA was a Trapshooting organization ..... NOW people think a Hedge Fund with a Trapshooting hobby is something "Gipson" should be proud of ......

"Gipson's fantastic direction" seems to refer to his personal bank account .....

They give a gun to the outgoing president as a "gift" because they can't "pay" him.

Maybe the 200K is really severance pay.

My reasons Mr. Gipson would be worth big dollars if I were on the Executive Committee.

    1. If he really understands the art of the deal. Is he bringing in big contracts?
    2. Is he expanding trapshooting?
    3. Is the sport better because he is at the helm?

You guys tell me. You can vote him out right?

He couldn’t give targets to the SCTP for free. What are the odds the product is worse than the sales job? Product cost to SCTP free. Salary around 200k? How much would you have to pay someone to sell that product? Would like to see that graph.

Another lame cast sid. I doubt if you are going to anyone to bite and argue with you.

Your are correct. The place is doing fine. After the past screw ups, see loss of STCP shooters, just being open would be considered "doing fine" and moving in a "fantastic direction".

I really don't think any of us are "worried" about that place in Illnews. You should be able to figure that out for yourself just by looking at the pathetic numbers that White elephant draws for what was once was the largest single day in American Trap shooting. The majority of Trap shooters have never been to that place and never will go. THAT is something you and the rest of the cheer leaders SHOULD be worried about.

The ata screwed up, live with it.

    "Drop by in August"?
Tough to "drop by" when someone lives over 10 hours from there. Not that it matters, I wouldn't go there if it was 5 hours away and Gipson offered me free targets. Guess I'm with the SCTP leadership on that one huh? They didn't want to go back there either.

You sound like one of those guys that thinks it's great to live close to the place. You aren't that greengiant guy are you? The 22 yarder that has a whole 13,500 lifetime targets and shoots in only 2 or 3 places but talks as if he has experienced the Golden days. He even had 500 for all of last year. I used to get that many in one day. Tell me you aren't that jackoff but just someone else that lives close to that place and is under the false assumption that he is in Trap shooting heaven.

And for God's sake don't just post once in a while. After your lack of response and best wishes to the kids and the CC on their 10 YEAR contract I doubt if you will acknowledge the fact that the ata screwed the pooch and the attendance proves it but keep lurking. I like reading your stuff. It's almost as amusing as reading the posts from that two bit garage gunsmith that thinks he is funny.

If any of you are waiting for "sparta sid" to respond to the lousy turn out and loss of the SCTP kids forget it. I know the type.

Lynn (The Talking Head ) Gipson has not showed his value to the Association to even get on the balance sheet at $50,000 let alone excess of $200,000 with benefits .... There has to be some internal graft for the EC to be able to justify this amount of money on an annual basis not to mention what looks like to be Merit raises by the amount of the raises them self ... It appears its time for an investigation but by who and how does a person get the ball rolling to get one started and make sure it is real ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

    WPT,

Was it several years ago there WAS an oversight committee of sorts, and when they (or the chairman of it) began looking into things the Chairman got the boot ?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the person who got booted is now on the EC.

Perhaps in time, things may get looked into by this person.

He may just be sitting back, taking it all in, and then begin asking questions about what he finds.
