Was in the area of CC today and swung through for a look. Thought they were putting up shot screens but didn't see anything. But what is the huge concrete building going in north of banks 1-4? Sure a change of background there.

Farmstead seems to be in decline.

Could it be in preparation for when the State of Illinois tosses the Trapshooting Hall of Fame out of their building ??????

    No such chance.

Yeah, someone said it's one of the Dollar stores Warehouse.
The Junk business must be good. Maybe we could convince them to paint the wall a neutral color if the curtains don't materialize this year.

Man, if that whole building is for Dollar Tree they must be doing real good.

Illinois should have offered to build it for them for free.

Of course the company would want to own their own building so that wouldn't have worked.

The concrete building is a Dollar Store distribution warehouse.....not a place to shop. The curtain project has started. The road for the poles is in and the material for the curtain is on site @ CC. Poles will be going up on banks 1-4 soon and will be finished in time for Karen’s Cup in May. The remainder, banks 5-12, will be done in time for Ohio State Shoot. This was the information I was given at last weeks league shoot @ CC.

When I was at the CC in 2017, I heard a lot of talk about the coming curtains, and the corner lot that was sold, which was the reason for the curtains being installed. No one knew specifics, it was all chatter and rumor. Only time will tell

A couple of weeks back Daniel and Jake came up hunting and they said basically what Bruce Gillian reported above, also the Farmstead is being renamed the Legacy (I think) and the menu updated, and with a beer garden on the outside. Jack contracted the work for the shot screen, Dan told me that they were using 50 foot power poles 8 foot in the ground for the screen but I forgot to ask how far apart they would be. It's a grey color and they will be throwing all orange targets.

Can't wait to see it! Does anyone know if this will be the longest shot screen in the world? This should really put an end to the empty squads on certain banks as all traps will have the same background. Full utilization of the shooting line should help each event finish in less time. It will be interesting to see if the so called "weekend warriors" will attend now. No more issues with those that pre-squad getting preferred banks. ALL the banks will be preferred banks! No need to even worry about scrambling banks or drawing for starting banks. Really looking forward to this.

After the screen is finished you probably wont be able to squad on 5,6,7, they will fill early.

Was at practice with the Cardinal SCTP group last night and so far no poles in the ground, but the gravel driveway is in the full length of the line.

Might venture there today if the rain holds off.
Ill take a few pictures. My Son probably knows how to post them.
With all the poor weather we have had it's probably going to be awhile before the ground hardens enough to get a drill truck in there to set the poles.

Some people try to make fun of the screens,

"The worlds longest drive in theater!"

Edited my response because I was assured this was a joke post ??????

"All I’m concerned with is what does Gary Bryant think? Did they ok this with him first? I mean he’s a founding father of the ATA."

This little gem from a NO TALENT 22 yarder that shot an astounding 200 registered 16's and 100 caps targets last year. Guess where? And who thinks green tractors are something to get excited about. Tough driving that green titan with one hand on the wheel and the other one between your legs isn't it? If I was him, Doc's OK wouldn't be on my list of things to be concerned about. How to break more than 77 from the 22 yard line would be right at the top of my list. 77? You have got to be kidding right?
He can only dream about EVER being as good as the Doc was. Hell, Doc could probably do better than a 77 today.

BTW, the CC is NOT run, like the precious ata, by THEY. One person makes the big decisions. Of course, sometimes it looks like the ata is run by one person. Especially if there is a little under the table money to be made.

There was a "doctored" picture of the good Doc but the poster lost his nerve and took it down. He came on here about 3-1/2 years ago, surprising in itself since we were told we wouldn't last 30 days, but gave up and slithered back where he belongs.

"He'll probably stroke out when he hears CC received a grant to help with costs."

This guy is the epitome of "a special kind of stupid". I for one hope both the Doc and myself will be able to stand over this POS sooner than later. Yeah, I said it.

"What time do the movies start. Reminds me of a drive in movie screen, for those on here old enough to remember those."

What can you say about this post? Not enough brain power to come up with his own idea. Monkey hear, Monkey do.

Now, if they wanted to really use the screens for a movie theater I would recommend Spartacus.

And to add some REALLY special effects I would use the new screen poles and all the people involved in Pull2012 for a life like ending. As the credits roll you would drive out of the property past them just like the scene in the film.

For all you young readers, google ending scene from Spartacus.

    I can hear it now,
    I'M GIPSON, I'M GIPSON, I'M GIPSON, NO, I'M GIPSON!!!!

Boy Oh Boy, this stuff almost writes itself. :p

Flyersarebest- I think you missed it with this quote. Obviously a joke, this guy has been one of the best promoters of the Cardinal Center on this site. Not too shabby with a trap gun either, or for that matter with a sporter. He might take offense to you calling him a booger eating moron and questioning his mother's sophistication.

Hang on there Mr. Nester! Just because we have never seen Setterman eat a booger doesn't mean.....well, you know. And as for the moron part we HAVE seen him do some pretty crazy stuff! Of course, most of the crazy stuff can be attributed to the idiots he hangs around with. Oops, we are those idiots! You are right about his shooting skills though, dude can shoot (for a booger eating moron).

Don, every once in a while I need some guidance from someone who sees the big picture. After spending this afternoon with the Setterman and some of his cronies, I'm certain that a booger may have been ingested at sometime in the last 45 years. And he definitely hangs with the wrong crowd. But I must admit I had a great time!

    robb,
Give Luke a call and I'm sure he can tell you who made the skeet house doors. Remember that Mr. Fishburn owns a construction company so don't be surprised if the doors were made "in house". It seems like every year we go there something else has been added to make the place just that much nicer. This year, of course, the shot screens and the new vendor building will take center stage.

If by chance the average every day joe smoe looked at the resume of the Cardinal Center vs WSRC it would not take a Genius to sort out the total different mentality that revolves around each place ... The WSRC can't draw a crowd but can draw flies, the Cardinal Center on the other hand has no problem when it comes to drawing a standing room only crowd ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I talked to Jake and they shot the first targets over the curtains and it seemed to go well. We have had a lot of high winds around here and I asked him if the wind was affecting the curtains and he said not that he could tell. They were holding up just fine. I was a little worried about what the wind would do to those big sails.
