Anybody got a recommendation for a decent lawnmower battery? I've had my mower for probably 16 - 17 years and I know I've went through 6 or 7 batteries. The original lasted probably 4 or 5 years, then I got one at a big box auto parts place that only made it 1 year, then I got one (can't remember brand name) that lasted 4 years, then the last 2 or 3 only have lasted 2 years. The latest one is dead and it is only 1-1/2 old Tractor Supply Huskee brand. (Excide?) Anyway looking for a new one that will at least last 2 or 3 years.

WalMart (Sam's Club) has heavy duty batteries that work out well ... Thats what my brother put in his John Deere, been in there for over 4 years ... He does put a trickle charger on it when not in use and for the off season ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

They are imported junk, but I've gotten really good service from ChromeBattery.com. Great price, and the one in my John Deer is now entering it's fourth season.

also look into getting a battery tender to keep the battery in tip top condition during the off season especially.

The imported Junk has been in his tractor for 4 years this is the 5th season coming up, the label must be a mis print says made in America ( I asked him to take a picture, said he can't get at it where it sits but can read the label ) and cost half of what they wanted for the same battery at Chrome Battery ... He does use a battery tender on his cars, truck, and John Deere ... Proves you do not always get what you paid for ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Battery Chromes prices are double what any other retailers gets for a quality battery ... Check them out , then head to WalMart or Interstate ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Anyone had any problems with battery tenders? I'm somewhat reluctant of leaving one hooked up all winter.

I have 4 battery tenders, low voltage and has an inline fuse just in case ... Been using them for years, so far no problems ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
