I am planning to push our club to have more meat type shoots. We have a large club, hold registered shoots but only a small fraction do the registered thing.

    Any advice appreciated.

Keep the targets a little challenging. 3 hole targets eliminate shoot offs.

Annies, Protections, Pick your partner protections , calcutta's , dove shoots, 30 yards off of a wobble trap, the list is endless and once shooters know they are going to happen they will show up ... The best thing is the only thing at risk it a little money and maybe your pride ... We used to have a fish and steak fry before the games and we always had a great turn out ... It does not have to be difficult but you can and will have a great time ... As said above make the targets challenging and limit the shells best you can to something that is close to legal loads ... The best shooter we had all shot new shells and made the guys with the big boomers eat crow ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

don't give meat. use gift cards for a supermarket or food store close by. That way they can shoot and win and not have to take home a big bunch of meat and not have room in the refrig. We found that once a guy won one or two turkeys he went home because he had no place to keep them when he got home

In this area we have Lewis Class meat shoots. Traps are set as close to ATA as possible. 25 from 16 and 25 from 20 yards. A $1.00 goes into a jackpot and another goes into a draw pot. They give away pork loin, burger, steaks, pork chops...just depends.

Have a good BACON shoot, slab, hickory smoked, thin and thick cut, the possibilities are endless and you won't have any muslims show up to stick up the place ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

We hold both meat shoots and ATA shoots. All of the clubs around our area shoot on a given Sunday and always shoot that Sunday. For example, our club always shoots the 4th Sunday of every month for their meat shoots. Sometimes they give away shells, sometimes money, but everyone like meat. It doesn't matter what kind, but meat. Bacon, pork steak, ribeye, hamburger etc. We use the lewis class system and place 8 scores per class. We payback 4 places in each class and use long run anywhere for the 1st tie breaker, reverse run for the 2nd tie breaker and scratch run for the 3rd tie breaker, if they are still tied at that point, we pay both shooters. All of the successful meat shoots around here pay the same prize for all 4 places in the lewis class. The high gun for the day gets an extra $5.00 bill with their meat. Since it is lewis class, we allow re-entries as many times as you want, since alot of shooters want to shoot at least 100 targets, most will re-enter again, but there are some who re-enter 3+ times too. Good luck with your meat shoots.

What Rob says works. 20 squads is not uncommon.
