Hey BIG PAPA....what are the averages that will be used to classify shooters in AAA? Will there be trophies for AAA now?

Also, I hear there may be an attendance issue at meetings in your zone. Please give us an update.

Lima, I have no idea who you are and I am not sure how (or even if should acknowledge your posting) to answer your questions. Since I am NOT YOUR director, I am not sure why you are asking me. Therefore, I cannot give you an "update". Why don't your ask one of your director's or the state president? Do you understand that the "hosting" club is not responsible for the "management" of the zone shoot? Your zone director's are responsible. If you received the same printed program in the mail like I did, in the "singles" team definition, it clearly states the top two scores from each class AA-A-B-C-D ETC. will make the ZONE TEAM. Although, if you "carefully" read the doubles team information, it "clearly" states the top two scores from each class. The program does not state what the classes are, it just states each class. Also in the GENERAL INFORMATION section it clearly states the singles and doubles averages for each class. So, I guess your zone director or the state president can clarify if the program we all got is correct or incorrect. I absolutely have no idea what you are asking regarding there may be an attendance issue at meetings in your zone. Using the words "your zone" implies my zone and not yours? In the five years is served on the OSTA board, I never attend any meeting in "my zone". I did attend every state board meeting conducted at the Cardinal Center. Since I will be the person responsible for setting up all the parameters and options on our computer system, I would really like to have the answer's to some of your questions. I would appreciate it very much when you get the correct answers from a reliable source, please post them for me. Thanks for your help. Hope you attend zone shoot and identify yourself. I am guessing you are a class AAA shooter and are just dying to shoot against the one or two others in that class in your zone. I am sure you got the answer to this one. Based on the 2017 averages, exactly how many class AAA shooters are there in the NW zone?

Time out folks. According to BIG PAPA there will not be a AAA class. Tell me that is a misprint or typo. Not that I have a dog in this fight but I assumed there would be a AAA class at the zone shoot. The OSTA board did vote on a AAA class. No?

To quote the program "they will be taking top scores in each class" I would be 80% assured AAA is a class and would be represented. But that's is just me.

Thanks to BIG PAPA for good read.

The Buckeye Open states AAA 98% and higher for singles. AAA Doubles are 96% and higher. AA singles 96.25-97.99% in other words under 98%, AA Doubles are92% and under96%.
These are the Buckeye Open guidelines only.

  5. Whoa - I read this as AAA shooters may be banned in Ohio zone shoots. Excellent! You Ohioans are crazy!

There is no need for AAA shooters in Ohio or AAA doubles, now for a national shoot there may be a requirement as it takes all States and Countries as well as Canada to have enough shooters for a AAA Event.

That is my take on AAA, no need for it in Zone shoots.

STAT MAN STAN - I did not state there either will be or will not be a class AAA at the zone shoot. What I stated was the information that is printed in the zone program. I am not sure if Lima received or read the zone shoot program. If he was so hell bent on know about class AAA, he should contact a director or the state president to get the "straight scoop" on the zone shoot and not ask another shooter (me) if he wants to know the facts. In fact I ask him to contact a person who would know the correct answer. Once he got the facts, I ask him to share that information with me. I wonder if he will help us out and post the FACTS and not ask questions.

In the world of fake news it isn't fact until BIG PAPA says so....or could be that is how Lima views it.

Big Papa has definitely reached that age where he will tell you EXACTLY what is on his mind when you ask him a question! No filter. He was a good Director for the OSTA and I wish he was still serving.

I wonder is there going to be class AAA zone team members, and what about a zone that doesn't have 2 AAA shooters shoot there zone? If a zone wouldn't have 2 AAA shooters are they disqualified from the team zone event at the state shoot? One year the Southeast zone didn't have 2 shooters in one class and they had to spot that many targets to the other zones. Also one year the Southeast zone tried to put a shooter from West Va on there team, but we caught it.

I can only imagine the potential problems that can occur with this dissension. No need for AAA unless you lower all the averages and make AAA 97 and above and D below 80. There are many more shooters in Ohio with averages below 80 than above 98. Brad

Brad, I totally agree with you. I was hoping Lima would gather some facts about the class AAA and post them as I suggested. It appears he is not going to take the time and share the information with us. So, I contacted Noreen and ask her what the scoop was on class AAA at the zone shoot. THERE WILL NOT BE A CLASS AAA AT THE ZONE SHOOT. Now it is official, Big Papa posted it!!!!!

Golly. In Lima's own way he did get the facts out. That's what we want. Just the facts mam, just the facts. And it is official now. PAPA has posted.

But that brings up another question..........

This year there is AAA at the OSTA State Shoot but no AAA at the Zone shoot. Is it possible there may be a "D Class" at the State Shoot next year and not at the Zone Shoot?

Is it in the by-laws that the Zone Shoot does not have to have the same classes as the OSTA State Shoot?

Common sense dictates the Classes by # of shooters to comprise a Class, there is not enough AAA shooters in each zone, for a AAA Class.

There is no need for AAA, just lower the AA one percentage point like Brad Dysinger pointed out.

OUT WEST in the drier air targets are easier to break, this is a well known factor, Plus up in the Mountains the air is thinner.

    All are factors.

I heard it tonite from a BOD, AAA had been brought up numerous times, but VOTED DOWN, and this time they said My words "WHAT THE HELL LET'S GIVE IT A TRY"
AAA is a GO, I believe for the STATE SHOOT.
