Well, one of those 3 doesn’t have a choice since he actually works there, and with the other two going that should put the total for the GAH day right around what?

That should put the GAH day right around what? Isn't the GAH the largest handicap event in trapshooting? If not please let me know where the largest is so i can attend.

The attendance last year seemed to be smaller that usual. The sidewalks in front of the hard buildings used to be more jammed with people walking about. Last year not so much. We wanted to demo a couple of guns, and they closed the practice trap early to set up some kind of fireworks display. What a joke...

The GAH is smaller than it was during the Korean War.

The SCTP Handicap is much larger. The high school handicap event in Michigan is bigger.

What is the surprise? The ATA paid big money to have the members surveyed. They didn't listen to the survey. The WSRC is hardly supported by Illinois. Not my fault!

I should have been more specific, I want to SHOOT in the big Handicap events not be a spectator. So where is the largest handicap event in trapshooting each year, that adults can also participate? I did not like the move to Sparta either but it was 20 YEARS AGO. I was over it the first time stepped onto the CARDINAL CENTER property 20 YEARS AGO. The 50s, 60s and 70s are not coming back no matter how much we want them to.

If “everyone” is somewhere around a pathetic 1800-1900 shooters in what was once the greatest event of the year? Then yeah, “ everyone “ is going

People who know me, know that I'm not cheap but spending $3.00/per event to IDNR is pure thievery; The ATA has enough cash to cover the IDNR fees @ Sparta!!!

Sorry to say Jeff blue collar adults were booted to the curb long ago by the ATA. Write them a letter. They didn't care much when the members said they weren't going to Illinois.

The money is in the Ohio, KY, and Indiana Calcuttas. Or go to Sparta and pay the big bucks to shoot for points. PA State Shoot has an event for a K80.

Let us know how the letter to the ATA goes.

My friends and I drink several dollar beers and don't worry about three bucks..This is a world class shooting venue .
Expensive gun , SUV, Twelve dollars a box of shells. I leave the bartender at least a ten bucks tip..

Maybe palos doesn't miss the point. He makes it. The blue collar shooter / weekend shooters no longer go to the Grand. The folks that enjoy Sparta don't mind paying $6000 to shoot the Grand. They don't even need money for winning.

This isn't about winning money or shooting for a car. It isn't Vandalia. If you don't have lots of bling it isn't for you.

World Class Venue? The SCTP turned down free World Class Targets.

The World Shooting Complex cost Fifty Million Dollars to build and a couple of bucks to shoot and keep the place in good condition is minimal. Nice campground .Large parking lots . Nice buildings. It takes a lot of manpower to run a shoot of the size of the Grand .I am not into the ATA politics, I just know it is a nice place to shoot .A .ot of clubs in Illinois gave up on shooting registered targets. I guess they don't want to go thru the trouble and work to put on a registered shoot. MAYWOOD AND NORTHBROOK FRANKFORT Come to mind

The point was, if the ata has so much frigging money why do they charge that $3.00?
    I got it immediately

I was shooting at Maywood when they discontinued their registered ATA shoots. The trap chairman was a good friend of mine, and he confided that it was too much of a pain in the keester, to deal with them. Northbrook seems to be all about shooting sporting clays anymore, with maybe a little skeet thrown in.

Sporting clays is kicking ass in Fl. 65 @cents/target, $45.00 golf cart rental Its not $$ its more bang for the bucks-you get to shoot in the shade & 100 targets are not over in a blink & that's whats killing trap shooting-sporting clays is entertaining--trap is like running a marathon at sprint speed
