Some emails are asking where are the monies from the Michigan State Trapshoot. I am hearing MI is telling shooters we will send the money. A problem is that some of the blue collar shooters need paid to stay in the game.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    I report. You decide.

There must be another issue as the results / payouts from the previous days haven't been posted.

Thursday's 3rd event payoff sheet, Friday's 3 events and Saturday's championship were finally posted this morning. I had a little Lewis class money coming and Saturday I went to the entry window and asked if they were paying off? I was told that they didn't pay off during the shoot that they mailed checks. I said thats not right and in a very cliped statement I was told thats the way we do it and she said she didn't have anything to do with it. Any option money that shooters have won should be paid as soon as possible. When you enter options and win some money you should not have to wait on the mailman to deliver it as much as 2 weeks later. A year ago after my wife passed the guys that I drink coffee with mailed A card from a Post Office 6 miles from my home and it was over 6 weeks until it arrived in my mail box. The mail is not nearly as reliable as it used to be.

To me that seems like a lot of extra work and extra expense that could be avoided. The next thing is they will want to raise target prices because of increased expenses. I sure hope they add up all the money for the whole shoot and mail only one check. You might be lucky if you got your money by the time the Grand gets here. Check the post mark and see when they actually put the check in the mail.

Since I am on the disabled list at home now, I get bored just setting around. So, I got out my ATA rule book and took a look at what the rules are regarding payout of purses and options. The ATA rule book is very clear in this area. It clearly states that that the club/organization can make all payments with a check providing it is CLEARLY STATED IN THE PROGRAM THAT WILL BE THE WAY ALL MONIES WILL BE RETURNED. So, i pulled out my Michigan state shoot program. Went to page 19 (options and payouts) and there it is. All payouts will be by check. In my opinion, It Is implied AFTER THE ENTIRE SHOOT IS OVER, THEY WILL MAIL YOU ANY MONEY YOU HAVE COMING!!!!! What that means is when ever they have time, they will print the checks and mail them to you. And God know how great the postal system is day.

As outdated as RJS computer system is, you can always go swipe your ATA card, check gets printed on the spot. If desired, you can take it to one of the shoot cashiers.

Hey Merlo, I report, you decide!!!!!!!

Brad, all the new software that I have seen will let you swipe your card and a check will print same as RJS. This is a decision of the "manager" of the MTA grounds and the BOD does not have the balls to tell him it is BS and they want the money available to the shooters. In my opinion, just another reason why shooting attendance continues to drop at what used to be one of the best.

Pardon my ignorance about event cashiering, but if most fees and options are paid with checks or credit cards, the organization may not have the funds available immediately to do onsite payouts ????

The question has nothing to do with PAYING the fees and options to shoot. It's all about collecting your option winnings at the shoot. Not waiting on someone to print checks well after the shoot, stuffing them in envelopes, delivering them to PO and God only knows how long it will take them to deliver them to you.

Sure, that’s an option. Do you think that works in 2025 to make everyone pay in cash? I think it could if we had the crowds that ATA shoots used to have, but not with what we have today.
