Careful Brad! You are starting to sound like Dave and myself. Screen? What screen? Just update me about the food!
That picture brings back memories of our first trip there last year for SCTP nationals with the kids. We made some great memories. Hopefully we'll make it again this year. Looking forward to getting back out there. Thanks for the pic! Glad to see it's holding up ok. I've shot some of my best scores there. It really helped the confidence levels and scores since.
This is Dr,longshot, back on line and now live in Chilicothe, Ohio, disgusted with Athens, and Hi Gas Prices, here Gas is $2.79 everywhere. Still have my phone line, PM me if you need my phone number.I now have my Model 12 Pet, 1939, Milled Rib Factory Trap. GB...............................DLS
I hope the screen holds up this winter, but remember guys it's just the first of January. Lot of ice, snow and high winds ahead of us yet!
Is Legacy now a pizza joint? (I know it closed up). Any idea their hours? Do they still have the bar area? Would be great to grab a pizza and cold one after a shoot....
Bank 1 the curtain is all tore up and I called to see if open for practice and they said it was closed indefinitely because of the damage to the curtain.
I have never been to the Cardinal (yet) and I also have never seen a field with those shot screens. I always wondered how weather and wind would affect them? Would the price gained from the shot recovered pay for any repairs/replacements needed? I would think the solid, consistent background is a big plus.
On some banks the screen isn't high enough and on some banks the screen isn't low enough on the bottom. You will see targets above the top of the screen and you will see targets through the grass then into then curtain. These old eyes don't adjust as quickly as they used to! (Don't like the curtain!)
It's not perfect. It's better later in the year when the corn in the field behind the screen is taller. I like it. I shoot better there and that helps my confidence.
I doubt any of those sheets are even slightly damaged. They are are all held in place with hog rings. The rings release the sheets under extreme stress. That way they do not tear. They will have too reattach several every year. The Ohio Ice storms did this. More new hog rings / rinse / repeat.
I was afraid those sections of curtain flapping in the wind like laundry might be a problem. It's good to know it's a feature.
It just keeps getting worse after this weekend ice and wind. Hope they can get it fixed before the first shoot
From the looks of some of the broken cables flying around I think it's going to take more than just replacing the hog rings
I agree with you Bob, it might have been a good idea at the time. One indicator the scores were much higher at the Cardinal before the shot screen went up. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Love curtain. Keeps shoot moving too as people will shoot banks 5,6,7 now instead of everyone waiting for banks 2 and 3. Funny how before the curtain I always saw the OSTA big shots on 2 and 3 and no where else.
“Some one send me a photo...” I don’t think there is a Red shot screen so you might be out of luck with your request. “Did they replace the screen” We haven’t heard that yet If you don’t mind me asking, what part of the world do you call home?
