ARE YOU A TRAP SHOOTER IF?

You worked hard enough to buy yourself a dedicated trap gun. (It doesn't matter what manufacturer or how much it cost.) From a used 870 to a high grade German or Italian model.

You spent your hard earned money on all the gear you need. Vest,glasses,bag, and anything else you think will help you break a good score.

You shoot for your club one night a week in a 50 target per week league than runs from April to September using that dedicated Trap gun. You spend more money on gas and dinner when you travel to these 4 or 5 clubs on a rotating schedule.

You shoot every week on a different night at your own club. 3 or 4 rounds of practice then 3 hours of Games.

You shoot 3-4-5 rounds every Saturday or Sunday at your own club.

Once in a while you drive to one of your buds clubs to shoot 3-4-5 rounds on a Saturday or Sunday.

You spend what money you can afford on components or new shells (on sale if you can find them)

When you can get components, you spend time sitting at the reloader you bought loading shells.

You still enjoy having fun with your pals trying to break the best scores you can. Even though the scores don't really count for anything except a way to see if you are getting better.

You don't shoot any "registered" ATA targets.

My feelings on this is, all you need to do to be a "trapshooter" is to shoot clay targets on a trap style format. Skeet shooters do it on a skeet style format and sporting clays do their thing. Registered or non-registered does not matter. I shoot both. My main goal is to do the best I can and enjoy myself. Trapshooting is the "only" vice I now have. So I try to do all I can within the budget I have. If you have fun and enjoy "Just Do It".

 

I shoot where I can when I can. I guess that makes me a Trapshooter.

I was told I was a TRAPSHOOTER when I started making adjustments to my gun after shooting a really good score.

 

They said I was a Trapshooter when I gained 30lbs. and my hair turned white.

That extra 30 pounds is RECOIL REDUCTION.

 

I'm still a skeet shooter first, then a trap shooter.
But how about "when you'd rather go to the club than bird hunting, because you're going to get to shoot more, and you don't have to field dress the clays".

 

There are many who shoot a few rounds of Trap, and good for them ..... but the number of Trap-Shooters grows smaller every day.

 

Hadn't shot any trap since 1997. A friend of mine talked me into going out and shooting a few rounds several weeks ago and after 3 rounds I was as enthusiastic about returning to trap shooting as I was when I started many years ago. I had forgotten how much fun it was and how I enjoyed shooting with my friends. I am once again bitten and have just purchased a new trap gun and am ready to start my "comeback". Researched a lot of shotguns and was surprised to see the huge selection and how much better the technology is. Really looking forward to starting again.
