The comments made by IDNR head shows many of the fatal flaws of government ran Sparta.

IDNR Director Marc Miller's comments about who should be the director at Sparta shows how little the IDNR really cared about it's success or failure.

IDNR Director Marc Miller said Ashbrook, a past-president of the Sparta Chamber of Commerce, was a natural choice. (no shooting or shoot management background)

    Miller touted Ashbrook's other qualifications.

Art Ashbrook, has owned and operated an insurance and real estate business in Sparta and
DNR Director Marc Miller said Ashbrook, a past-president of the Sparta Chamber of Commerce, was a natural choice.

One thing the IDNR stated they understood was some fatal flaws of Sparta

It was easy to find faults at the DNR-operated site: it was difficult to get to, shade is a precious commodity, and it’s too spread out. (no mention of it being an anti-gun state)

Obviously by not wanting to hire another director they understand that the following IDNR statement was the whopper.

Most involved in the ATA moving its signature event from Ohio admits that it took shooters a while to warm up to the WSRC in southern Illinois after eight decades in Ohio.

Since participation at the site is as it's lowest since before the Korean War I would say we are not quite warmed up to the idea.

How didthe Chamber of Commerce react when hearing about the lawsuit? Need someone with local information. Would have liked to have been in on that meeting.

As previously stated the government does not always do the intelligent thing, someone with no previous experience in the shooting sports will have a difficulty trying to run/operate a shooting facility and is usually short lived in that position. No direspect intended.
