with the high cost of targets and shells and the long days at a shoot, are people leaving the sport.

Seems that for 20 or 30 dollars you can go have an afternoon of fun shooting games, maybe make a few dollars, be competitive and enjoy yourself.

    Just wondering?? any thoughts

those that can afford the matches are still going to matches....because they can.
what IS happening is a market shift from a sport for all, back to a sport for the wealthy.

    Well,

    It is expensive.

But better than a country club or a boat.

Try those and see how ya like it.
CC bull, you're charged when you're not using anything.

    Boat, high maintenance.

Work on it all week and use it on the weekend

I've shot for 39 yrs. Before that I was into dirt bikes, racing and camping.

Too old to ride and don't like golf or the cc life.

I can still choose my shoots and the gun I want and how many events I want to shoot.

Still better than s. clays at their stupid prices.

    I don't shoot out of a cage

It's getting so bad, the guys arriving in $450,000 Diesel Pushers that get 7 miles per gallon are complaining about the $42 target fees!

Have five clubs within 40 miles. Can shoot every week and be home for lunch. The drive is what is stopping me.

In fl registered shooting is cheaper than shooting @ some clubs @ Blackjack Sporting clays its 55cents/per target no matter what you're shooting that's $13.75/game

I completely left the sport in 2008 and returned in 2017. There was a noticeable decline from my perspective when I returned. It seems to be rebounding to a degree. But there is so much pressure on the sport. The most glaring to me is cost of everything involved.

shooting registered doesn't effect those that can afford it.
but to those it does, its like justifying putting a registration plate on a motocross motorcycle. why register it? youre going to ride it where its not needed!

7 MPG isn't bad our 49' Grand Banks gave us 2 MPG, but in those days we could fill fuel tanks with home heating oil @75 cents/gal--first major trip was 7700 miles

yet, the san ant world shoot facility had to expand its rv campsite for those 60' mobile homes with 30' trailers towing spare cars, to fit in......

Most motorhomes max length is 45'. Some or most of those flat town a vehicle. None of the ones you mention will not fit on an RV site in San Antonio.

I certainly don't begrudge anyone owning any motorhome. Good for them to be able to have one.

As an old motocrosser and street bike rider, I can tell you that you cannot legally obtain a registration on a MX machine.
    But, I see your point...

david doesn't. the topic is the cost of registered shooting. anyone who drives an rv to major shoots towing a car, best not be someone complaining about cost of registered shooting. maybe that will help make my point. we good now dave? because I don't begrudge any successful American driving his dream either.

heck, I know people who fly to major shoots in private jets. good for them!
just hope it isn't an f4 phantom jet. they burn 10 gallons of jp5..........a second!

I understand your point now. Agree, some spend upwards of $500K or more, shouldn't complain about cost of shooting.
