Missouri would be more central located for shooters from both coastal areas and Northern and Southern borders. Anywhere else is unfair to anyone who wants to shoot the Grand and lives the greater distance of the country. There is no majority rule, it's whats fair for EVERYONE!

If the numbers over the past 10 years say anything most people don't really care anymore ... If the numbers keep dropping off, they will be able to hold it in a parking lot someplace and eliminate the problem ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I don't care what is good for the masses. I don't care what is best for the ATA members. Just move it further southwest.

A problem with ATS is its weak poll option. ATS only offers First-Past-the-Post (FPP) polls. Single-Transferable-Vote (STV) polls provide far more useful and representative results. Without STV, your poll will not give much of a useful answer.

I posted a STV poll here about target color and had my thread immediately deleted with an instruction to use the ATS FPP poll that only has worth in a binary selection.

If you want to learn more about STV, find videos on the Internet video site (I don't even dare mention another website) published by CGP Gray.

How is Missouri "fair" to anyone? Where, exactly, in Missouri?

Missouri was one of the three that Longshot quoted.

It is closer to the center of the US than the other two choices Longshot quoted.

Why would it be fair for one end of the country to (Pa for example) have the grand while Califorina had to drive the extra distance? Put it in the center or as close as one could get.

Leonidas, I don't think anyone from California went to Sparta last year. :D:D:D:D:D:p

More CA shooters went to the Grand when it was in Ohio. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Put it near the center of the country in an immense cornfield close to nothing. That reminds me of where it's held today!

Where in Missouri? Linn Creek is Sparta, all over again.

Center of a geographic region isn't as important as the center of your customer base. Would it be fair to make everyone in Chicago drive to Springfield to go to Ikea, when 85% of the state lives in a single metro area?

The Western states have the very capable PITA. PITA doesn't feel the need to hold its big match in Jeff City.

I listed the States that had the largest amount of traps, and were near Hotels, Motels, eating facilities, and places where the wife and kids can go and have fun. Ohio, Pa,Mo.

I personally would drive through Illinois to participate in Missouri, They have lots of entertainment, Like Ohio, both have large lakes nearby, Fine dining, Casino's, Pa just got a new Casino, These 3 states developed their shooting facilities, by shooters for shooters.

That is why they are so successful. I do not have any negatives for these 3

They were not built in a desolate location.

The ATA is trying to visualize the loss of all of the shooters from southern Illinois, plus the loss of shooters from the move to Illiniois and they are begining to feel the pain ... With the decreased attendance and then another 2 or 3 shooters (Sparta area) and they are getting close to the point of why bother having the Grand at all ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Gary, Our new Homegrounds has thirty traps plus one international bunker. The biggest reason I was pushing for is, We need the influx of money. I know it would never be but one could dream.

If the attendance keeps dropping off 30 Traps will be more than enough ... I like Wisconsin, the people are super friendly and helpfull ... The Cheese is second to none, especially with a nice ice cold brewski and some real brats ... They have Wisconsin days down there in Sun City, Az in the fall when all of the Snow Birds come back for the winter and the food and fun is really great ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

I've never been much of a fan of government run gun clubs, anywhere. I began my ATA registered shooting at an Air Force GC, EAFB, in Edwards, CA. How smooth and enjoyable the experiences were depended on the base CO and his view. Miramar in SD was closed down by the base CO after years of ATA competition trap shooting there!

Ben Avery in Phoenix is owned by the state but it's trap operation is run by shooters that know how to run that portion. 5 miles from my home is a county owned and run club, a nice one too. They assured us there wouldn't be any ATA shoots taking place there ever!

This fiasco in Ill is another example of the government's attempt at running something they know nothing about? Political control at work here, threats of shutting the shooting center down? I don't think they will but just them threatening to pisses me off big time! Another gherktoid political ploy threat only!

Our Federal government took control of a house of ill repute in Nevada and lost money selling liquor and ladies of the night? So much for governments ability to run thingies huh?

Anytime we get in bed with politicians at any time or place, better bring your Vaseline because your gonna need it at one time or other to smooth things out!
