Can anyone recommend a stock and forend refinisher? Looking to strip high gloss, chase the checkering and start an oil finish. I can complete the oil application.
Must be reasonable. Do not want to remortgage my house !!! Time frame is not a problem.
    Thank you.

Browning CXS with stamped checkering. Gun has very exceptional factory wood. More like grade 6-7 wood on std.
    Sporting gun. Thanks !

Find a reputable furniture refinisher in your area that has a dip tank. Pay them to strip it and take it from there.

Try Doug Carpenter in Madison Ohio. Carpenter Custom Gunstocks.

A lot of Browning color is in their finish -Thats how they can match forearms and stocks together --Had my CXT stripped, and did the oil finished myself -- took a lot of work with stains to get the two to match -- a pro probably would not have a problem -Just letting you know what you could find -- Oil finish looks great !

We had a furniture manufacturer as a customer years ago, who explained when working with walnut, the first thing they did was to bleach the color out of the wood.
.....This removed the color variations normally found in the heartwood and sapwood. ....Uniform color was then achieved with stains and top coats.
