I can see the headlines now, IDNR has approx. 130 Used Pat Traps at our WSC facility.

Traps will be sold in groups of 10 to the highest bidder, buyer has 24 hours to pick up traps after proof of funds for purchase.

I guess it could happen. That where the Lawyers come in.
Just like if the decide to close the facility and don't give us a years notice to vacate.

There is always a legal option.

It can't be much fun going through life always expecting the worst.

The people and government of Illinois have been very good to us at a time when we really needed the help.
Even if our arrangement were to come to an end they still deserve our thanks for some great years.
    Looking forward to August.

IF Sparta closes then there MIGHT be a rush to lawyer to find out what repercussions the almighty and powerful ATA can have upon the GREAT STATE OF ANTI-GUN A.K.A. ILLINOIS

It is my understanding that the ATA owns the Pat Traps at Sparta. It is also my understanding of this arrangement that Sparta has the use of the Pat Traps during the balance of the year but for using the Pat Traps the State of Illinois has to replace one Pat Trap a year which becomes the property of the ATA. Based on this information the State of Illinois does not own a trap machine at Sparta.

"The people and government of Illinois have been very good to us at a time when we really needed the help."

I think the people in Illinois/Sparta were LIED to ... and then acted in a very stupid way.

How could anyone who knows Trapshooting feel the ATA/Grand could support such a large facility alone ???? It has never been told that they had a lease/contract with the Skeet, Sporting Clays, or Cowboy Shooters. So they put ALL their faith that the ATA/Grand ALONE could support them, even to the point of a 'profit' .... and that is asinine in anyone's book. There is NOT a business-person anywhere, that would make that kind of 'investment' in that location with the available 'data'.

The ATA leaders created the current mess for the ATA members and the WSC/Sparta for reasons only they know for sure. And .... saying the ATA was "helped in a time of need", and then to also say the ATA has many millions in the bank, makes no sense ...

As pointed out before, there are other venues that shoot at Sparta.

Being 'open' for random business in a low traffic area, and a lease/contract are far apart in the business world.

    oldphart is correct,

The ATA owns the Pat Traps at Sparta, however they are considered as "shared equipment." This includes the use of the automatic voice release systems and radar guns for target setting. For the use of the "shared equipment" the agreement is for the IDNR to purchase one (1) new Pat Trap machine and one (1) Canterbury voice release system each year between October 15th and December 31st.

The ATA has the right to terminate the agreement if the Illinois Legislature enacts a law or an Illinois court enters a ruling or any political subdivision of the State of Illinois passes or enacts any ordinance that materially impacts the ATA's ability to hold the Grand American Handicap tournament. However, they must wait until the end of the next full legislative session, giving the IDNR time to attempt to eliminate the problem through legislative action.

Upon the termination or expiration of the agreement the ATA has 120 days to remove all of the possessions of the organization or they are considered abandoned by the ATA and the IDNR is the new owner.

How in the world will they be able to remove the new Hall of Fame Building in 120 days ?

Any articles can be taken out perhaps in that amount of time, but the Building is another issue.

I guess it could be done, but then they have to store that also...

The dollar amount that has gone into that building would be worth moving it to another site.

I just hope it never comes to that !!!

    Just my 2 cents worth

My comments were directed to only the ATA's possessions at the WSRC.

I have not yet seen the official lease agreement for the Trapshooting Hall of Fame & IDNR. I would suspect there is many similarities since both agreements were most likely prepared by the State of Illinois.

In the future I'm sure someone will submit a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for a photocopy of that agreement and make it available .

I have a line on oversized load escort drivers.

Will it be moving to another park in IL? We need an insider in Mayor Emanuel's office. I hear he is pulling the strings.

New location will be right next to the Odumdo's presidential library on Chicago southside.
