The ATA discussed hiring a marketing company at the last exec meeting. The goal to go after "Non ATA shooters".

Next President Dean requested Vice President Herman, chairman of the Marketing and Industry Committee, give his report. He stated that his committee is trying to develop a plan to go after shooters who are not members of the ATA.

The last time I heard of the ATA hiring a marketing firm they moved to Sparta.

    I report. You decide.

The ATA is at a stand still and needs to eliminate some of the dead weight and over head such as paying expenses for the ED, EC, and any of the BOD who get any expenses paid (?) so they can attend a meeting ... The ATA hired a firm to find the location for the ATA to relocate to and possibly purchase property (there was a fee attached to each entry for relocation, which was used to buy Pat Traps) which included in the due diligence all of the requirements and the degree of importance of each which was obviously money spent on nothing or in other words a waste of money ... The ATA circumvented the due diligence by getting involved with a lease agreement with the State of Illinois which then turned into an MOU, WKW, hand shake, or what ever eventually became of it ... There is not one person on the EC or BOD who wants to see changes because they lose their turn to milk the "Cash Cow" and place in line for a new gun and $20,000 account for the president to use as he see's fit ... The ATA claims they promote the sport of trap shooting which is not really evident in any of their actions and never really has been ... The Good Ol' Boys Club is a live and well within the association and gets stronger each and every year ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

His first order of business, should be for the entire EC and BOD to resign. Then start with a new slate of ideas and sh@t can all of the old boy ideas. Get rid of Mr. fantastic direction, give the new director the $186,000.00 salary. That way there would be no additional cash outlay. We most likely would save money because of no hanky-panky with purchases or perks.

Merlo, I would like to suggest one more choice for the voters.
Hire a professional management firm with a proven track record to run the ATA.

The ATA hired a director of marketing back in the 90s. First thing he did was chase off Budweiser. Nobody left to chase off this time. LOL

It is hard for incompetent people to hire competent help. If you hire good people one of them may get your job. Roger C.

Over the years, I've had the opportunity to discuss Anheuser-Busch's sponsorship withdrawal with some folks with knowledge of this matter. Not one ever suggested the reason presented in the notice below.

Anheuser- Busch Inc. has eliminated its sponsor ships in many areas, sporting events ... Kenny Bernstein (NHRA, King of Speed ) was sponsored by the King of Beers for over 25 years and they no longer are involved ... The investment does not off set the amount it returns so in due time it gets eliminated ... The markets are flooded with people trying to get the Sponsors to back them so the sponsors can pick and choose who and what they get involved with ... The ATA does not present much of an offering to any of those on the net work of sponsors ... The once biggest shoot in the world had been cut down to the size of a reasonably nice State shoot probably more to do with its location and lacking the ability to draw any big crowds any longer ... The Sponsors want big crowds so their products can get attention with hope of increasing their business ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

The ATA has proceeded to squeeze even their small vendors. Many do not set up at the ATA shoots any more. If they can not make money why bother. If the EC had any smarts they would welcome the small vendors at their shoots. Happy shooters will always return to where they enjoyed them selves.
If the ATA is not purged of the know nothing leaders we now have the shooting sport in deep DODO. Even with a knowledgable person doing the recovery, they will still have to answer to the same people that are sinking the ship.
