I have recently perfected a quick and easy KISS Method way and means to find your POI on the Pattern Board. You have my permission to Copy, Paste and Print out the below Target. Simply scotch tape the 8 x 11 Target to the large paper on your Pattern Board. Aim at the dot below the bottom Clay image and shoot 2 shells from the 25 Yard Line.

You can adjust your Comb and Rib to get your results. You can also try different chokes to see how your pattern is performing. Get a 3 ring binder and insert each target into it. Start a record on how each of your guns are doing. You might want to take a photo of the target attached to the large paper to see the 3o" review of the outer shot area and then print it out by using a zoom in, zoom out & crop for your overall Record Binder. The only record that I need to see is the 8 x 11" Target with written info for my Binder.

    Give it a Shot,

Thank you for this. When I was in college (slide rule days, before pocket calculators) I used to do calculations mentally. Now I have to use speed dial because a seven-digit sequence is a challenge. This will help.

Here's something to watch: when a shooter looses a shot on a trap target, the process is fully "Real World." When a shooter has all the time in the world and shoots at a static point, an act which never occurs with a trap or skeet gun, the process of firing the shotgun may become more akin to firing a rifle, and the shooter's mount, hold, and pull might change, if subconsciously. It might be useful to have someone watch you during both shots to ensure the firing position and fundamentals are the same in both processes.

It might also be useful to shoot at Norman's target by facing 35 degrees away from target center, calling "pull," and swinging to the target and taking the shot as quickly and fluidly as if it were a trap target. This act might give you a truer "Real World" pattern.

Hard and it is impossible with a Stationary Target.
