It seems to me that is Happening, They just Closed 3 Bamks, that is 9 traps, and the Five Stand. Neighbors are complaing of noise from shooters, What happened to the GrandFather Clause, The club has been there for years, they knew that when they moved there. Things are Happening at the Silver Dollar that we northern shooter's do not know about, and most of the ATA shooters do not know or care about.

Is the Silver Dollar going to be another Trap Club Closing Down?

T shot, Why do you not elaborate on the subject? Tell Doc what is happening. He and others would like to know. You seem to emulate just what you are dicing Doc about. Roger C.

Doc, I know you have heard of these "Grandfather Clauses" protecting gun Clubs, but if you actually read them you might find that they are not really as meaningful as you think. Maybe some are, but I know some are not.

Silver Dollar is in a situation where it seems various neighboring groups are trying to close them down. They have removed some trap/skeet/sporting fields in a certain area. They are fighting the fight, but it is a long process, and something many more clubs are going to face. Get your ducks in a row and don't get a false sense of security from someone on the porch at the club telling you not to worry because of the good ole Grandfather Clause that you never read.

Could this be a Subversive attack on Gun Ownership? An around about way to remove the MOST SAFE gun issue in the USA? Is the desire to Build Expensive homes where a golf course and Gun range are at? I personally think it is the Latter. If you look back at history gun clubs are built in the country and shooters want to build close by for convenience, then age sets in and they sell, the buyers do not like the noise, and so they pass petitions for signatures to the noise issue. It is a never ending fight.

Silver Dollar Withdraws Appeal for Trap Fields. Trap Bunkers Boarded Up
This is breaking news from Hillsborough County Code Enforcement:

05/17/2018, 1440 hrs.: Motion for Reconsideration and Motion for Stay withdrawn by the attorney. Case removed from 05/18/2018 CEB agenda. [Code Enforcement Board]

The three eastern trap fields have been boarded up and will presumably be abandoned should the Board of County Commissioners not approve the pending rezoning application on June 12th. Today’s news does not bode well for future approval of that application. If so, then SD will be further diminished with only ten operational trap fields on the eastern side of Patterson Road. Yet to be determined in light of this, is will the proposed concessions to the opposition be withdrawn should the rezoning application not be approved.

I think it was Vic Reinders who gave a card to businesses he visited when attending large trapshoots. The cards outlined the positive economic impact of trapshooters coming into areas for tournaments.

The Silver Dollar has been a magnet for spending by visitors in the area for many years. The positive economic impact has to have been sizeable..

I hope the Silver Dollar will prevail in the zoning matters and other issues in regard to continued operation. Good luck to the them.

This is very similar to the closing of the Navy Recruit Training Command in Orlando, FL.

My local club had a shot fall easement on private land . Until land got sold -our iron clad easement was good -- but club couldn't afford lawyers and court costs fighting it.
