Handicap system broke??

Lots of shooters say " the system broke" how if you go by the rules is it " broke"? And how would adding 3yd fix it? Or what more does it need? Just asking.

 

One thing might be to put everyone back where they were before the ridiculous reductions.

 

Way, way too many things that could be in that broke (sic) description. In my opinion, as someone who's only been shooting for a few years, there is nothing and I really mean nothing that will bring this event back to its glory days.

Like a fool I took both reductions and when I got back to almost Singles yardage, suddenly I couldn't get on a full squad.
After almost shooting by myself numerous times, I Emailed Kathy Key and got most of my old yardage back. Didn't help my shooting too much but I got a attitude boost and mostly full squads.
A poor decision on the ATA's part.

yep. Same problem for me. I refused reductions to the 19 while I was away from shooting for 8 years. This year I have shot several 21 yard events by myself. Good thing the state shoot has presquad, but even so, some of my handicap squads are just two people on presquad. One no show means another solo event for me, assuming no-one else signs up. I look at the bright side when shooting solo, and pretend I am in a shoot off with a 27 yard guy on another field. When that day comes I will be ready. LOL.

While I had intended to earn every half yard I ever took, it occurs to me that if I just declared myself between 23 and 25 yards my squad selection would be a lot better. There doesn't seem to be many open posts in the 19 to 22 yard range. However, I don't see any member satisfaction arising from mandatory reductions.

The first thing that would have to be done is remove the EC from the organization, then make all of the delegates apply for their positions again. Then rewrite the bylaws to put the organization back into the hands of the members. The life members should vote on the EC. The delegates must be made to understand that they represent the members and not the EC.
The self servers have morphed the organization into a good ole boy's club. It is now used as a piggy bank for their use that we never see the outcome of all of the expenditures. We are always months behind on seeing what they did in meetings, and then we only get informed on a need to know basis. Their secrecy only breeds distrust of their actions, you would think they are smart enough to realize that.
The changes will never be made as long as the present succession to the top of the EC is in place, it will have to be changed. Roger C.

 

Given that all the "professional" trapshooters and the best long yardage shooters would most likely shoot the Grand America Handicap I decided to compile the distribution of scores from 100 to 80 for the 2017 GAH to see if any one group would dominate the winnings. How would you interpret the results in the table below?

 

Here is another set of data showing the distribution of all shooters by yardage. I didn't show those who paid but did not shoot so the total here is a bit different for the amount shown by the ATA that shot the GAH. I think their number was 2,003.

 

And here is the 27 yarders score distribution. Note those who love to be on the backfence occupying space.

 

Good work T shot. It looks like we have to many 27 yard shooters between 80 & 89 averages. They are not capable of ever winning anything. We need a reeducation program. Roger C.

 

Mandatory reductions?

 

More like a 30 yd. line. The personal prestige of shooting at the current max. will no longer exist. They'll be begging for reductions in hopes of winning a new pewter plate again.
